I just got a xdk today . Could someone guide me to see if there is any games on the HDD . Also how to move them onto usb. Thanks... Iv never used one of these consoles before. Only retail and RGH.
If you've used an rgh, they aren't very different in a rudimentary way. If the console boots to XDK Launcher and there isn't anything under Xex/exe or the next screen by pressing left under Xcontent, it's empty. You put games on it with pc and xbox neighborhood or if you're so inclined to use a usb, use it with something like xexmenu.
best idea for doing any kind of transferring is to use the SDK "neighborhood" Remote file transfer is what devkits were meant to do, but you can always get xexmenu on the harddrive and use it like you would any jtag or RGH
I would say use Xbox 360 Neighborhood its a great program and you can even use it to take in game screenshots
Thanks for the replys... There was nothing on it . If I go to dashboard can I put xexmenu on it with a usb stick ? Will it play debug game discs ?
It would be easier to use 360 neighborhood. Because with an XDK the setup is super simple and as long as you put your games in the dev partition then everything will be seen at the main menu and should run fine. And yes an XDK should run debug discs.
Your XDK will run debug stuff yes. Use 360 neighborhood like everyone is saying, it's a very easy software to manage your console.
A nice thing to remember - the eject button will also return you to the XDK menu. But yes, Xbox Neighborhood is the absolute best way to go. If you for some reason need another loader, I suggest Freestyle Dash (though the XDK one works okay so eh). Your kit will also play debug/review/preview/dev discs, though if it's not signed as a debug xex it wont run it. A nice setup to have is a dedicated computer wired to the unit with an ethernet cable for fast transfers. You can do it other ways but thats the fastest and most direct way.
I do have a spare pc next to it with all my backups of debug games on . I was trying to find away to get back to the bootup menu , i use farcry xbe . It will not load and takes me back to the xdk menu. To wire the pc to xdk i need both dvd emu and ethernet cable connected ?
