So my XDK is not reading the hard drive in the sidecar, and I kinda need to get that working. Here is a list of things I have tried: 1. Do a remote recovery 2. Do an ISO recovery 3. Pop the sidecar and unplug the hard drive and plug it back in 4. Disable and enable the hard drive
If the HDD was simply bad or the sidecar was fried it would throw an error code/RROD in most cases. What model is it? Dev or test, phat or slim? If its a full dev kit, does it say development kit on the xshell or does it say test kit? I'm thinking your connection into the HDD port is shot of the console side port is.
It's a test kit then. So it would say test regardless unless the JMobile files have been edited....hmmm.... well if I had to guess its the connector from the sidecar that feeds into the HDD port on top of the kit. You can try a retail connector if you tear down a retail HDD to see if that is the issue. I've had similar issues with a dev kit I have long since sold off but it does happen.
I'm gonna try using my rjtags drive to see if it is in the sidecar or the console port. Hate to open this, but whatever.
Yeah, I know the pain it brings to pop an XDK open but if the sidecar isn't powered on properly, the kit RRODs/E68's. If the HDD is screwed up, it'll RROD or E68. If the sidecar is fried, it'll RROD. Most situations between the sidecar and the HDD inside, it'll throw some port of an error. The fact it is not, leads me to believe the kit is not sensing anything in the HDD port because the port is F'd or the connector is. You could carefully pop the sidecar off the top using a small flat pry tool on each support leg of the sidecar, pull the sidecar up and pop the top shell off of it by prying at the rear (pix/dvd emu port side) between the top and bottom sidecar shell. That way no warranty seal opened, no damage to the sidecar legs, possibly fixing the kit so everyone wins.
don't forget to mention that the box you received it in was mishandled by the barbarians at USPS and the sidecar was not seated properly hopefully it is just a matter of something got disconnected while getting smashed around in transit
I fixed it. The adapter going from the sidecar bottom board to the consoles HDD port was unplugged. The only damage done to anything was a cut on my index finger from the metal in the sidecar. That was actually a lot of fun to do.
My finger will heal. Now I just need to figure out how to set this thing up. Need to patch to dev, need to get return to launcher working, need to transfer all my builds. I have a lot or work to do.
Microsoft should have made the hard drive connector lock into place, honestly just flipping a devkit with sidecar over on its head is enough for the fuckin connector to pop out of the cage.
Use this for "patching to dev". I say that in quotes cause there is nothing being patched, Just a config being added to flash is all! Does have the bonus of also giving you full access to all storage/partitions on the system as well. InternalDriveLinker(Access Flash Volume).rar http://goo.gl/qzFkfo
