Hey! I've been trying to install XenoGC and I only get the red light, been soldering and desoldering and so far the best i've had was the red light, sometimes I dont even get any light. I'm absolutely new to soldering only saw some newbie videos and watched a tutorial but I'm missing something on the dots or something.
Not much to say other than you're not soldering it correctly and not all the connections are connecting like they should. I personally found soldering those easy but I read many times about others that have trouble with it, so you can always try connecting it with wires instead and then tape the chip down using electrical tape or something like that. Be very careful though - the vias (solder points) on the Gamecube tear out VERY easily so don't hold the iron down long and make sure it's not too hot. FYI - if it's not lighting up then you 100% didn't install it correctly but don't assume that just because it's lit up that it's done right. Also, how are you testing it once it's installed? It may be possible that if it's lit up that you installed it correctly at a point but the GC's laser is finicky with burned discs (and often needs adjustments in order to do so) and maybe it's not reading the disc and you are possibly assuming it's not installed correctly? Here's a video on adjusting the laser: If you don't have a multimeter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Digital...T830D-Sales-/191578460097?hash=item2c9af74fc1
