Seems like gamepark understood that their first draws where a bit on the fantastic side. Old look: so they redesigned it, and it looks indeed more probable now: Cost: 300$ And, surprise, is little sister is here: half the memory, Half the size, Half the size of the screen, Half the price, and no wifi-fi. that's all the info i have.
They need to make handheld consoles which resize to fit the user's hands! Too tiny! :110: Nice! Looks like a GameBoy Mini...
Yeah, too bad that mini version has a freaking Playstation dpad instead of the lovely clicky thumbstick. Otherwise it would be a great choice since updating the RAM to 64MB would be easy and there's SD cards with wifi. It probably also lacks the USB host port, which would be more of a loss, though it's still unclear to me if Gamepark wants the XGP to have much of a homebrew community anyway and it's only with homebrew apps that the USB host port would really be interesting probably. I'd still have my money on the GP2X if I was going to buy one of these systems. I mean it has the edge in forming a community. And whatever technical superiority the XGP theoretically has wouldn't equate to better homebrew games and I doubt that Playstation or N64 emulation would really be likely, so it essentially has the same pool of emulated system (just might be a easier to get the high end ones like CPS-2 fullspeed). And commercial games...well, that's what a DS is for. ...word is bondage...
So what they are saying (Gamepark) is that our XGP is too big, so we made a smaller version that is actually portable. Let's be honest here. A GBA and a MICRO are portable. The DS is pushing it, but at least you can throw it in a backpack and know it's shell will keep it safe. The PSP? Not portable. It NEEDS a case, it NEEDS a screen protector. It is too big for a pocket, and too fragile for a backpack. Portable things should be durable. That XGP does not look durable. I'm going to go with sweater fish on this one. The GP2X fills a void in the market. The XGP looks like a cheap copycat of a PSP and a Gameboy MICRO.
the gpmini looks fine..but the xgp?...it looks like someone took that photo and warped it.....weird..and not in a cool way either Ryan
Who is going to buy this thing? My guess, a very small portion of the people who bought the GP2X and that is it.
Will no one learn from the Gizmondo, the Zodiac, and the N-Gage? Cahaz, what's with your sig? What is the reference?
its from Conspirators Hierarchy: The Story of the Committee of 300, published in 92 and wrote by John Coleman. I took it from page 160, if i remember right. Here's the complete quote: im pretty sure you can find interesting things if you put a random line in google, if you want more information.
that thing is expensive and fugly, the mini is kinda cool, but way too expensive, i dont beleave this is open source either? and even if it was, just get a broken 1.5 psp on ebay for like 100bucks and get a new screen.
