So I am considering getting an XRGB-3 at some point in the near future. I don't have the money to get one, but I do have a Victor Wondermega that I'm not using very much, so if I sold that I could probably pay for it. I'm just not sure if I should do that; on the one hand it's the one really cool collectors item I have, but on the other hand I hardly ever use it. I would almost certainly use an XRGB quite a bit. So, is it worth it?

I have some questions about the XRGB-3, too. If I should decide to sell my Wondermega, should I get the XRGB-3 or wait until the XRGB-4 comes out? Does anyone even know when it's coming out? I would probably want to RGB-mod all of my systems if I got one, but that would probably take a while - would S-Video be a suitable substitute in the meantime? Does S-Video look decent on an XRGB unit? And one final question; does the XRGB-3 allow you to fine-tune the size of the image? What I mean is, can you manually adjust the height and width of the image pixel-by-pixel? If not, can you at least control the aspect-ratio?

If your looking to display 240p stuff on HDTV I would suggest getting the XRGB3 right away. Micomsoft will probably not add much improvement on that side in the XRGB4, it's would be more targeted to HDMI system. Don't know when it's coming out, I would guess not soon as the XRGB team are still working on new XRGB3 feature, like the English firmware they released back on february and the screenshot tool they released some week ago. So the XRGB3 is still alive with active support from Micomsoft.

    S-video look ok.

You can do some ajustment with the XRGB for the H and V position but you don't have much control over the actual size of the picture. Best is to use the monitor to handle that. For the ratio I alway leave the XRGB in 4:3 mode, and change the ratio on my TV instead.

You should look at this thread over shmups forum:
    http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6987

Yeais the thread is fuc*ing long, but ALL the information on the XRGB that exist is contained into it.

Might worth it to register and ask over there if you have more question.
