Just found out there were different revisions of the Xyclops chip. Both are from Revision 1.6a Xboxes and both xboxes had the same kernel 1.00.5838.01. Does anyone know if there is any differnce between them? The one on the left has part number: X01202-002 and revison(?): A-A02 The one on the right has part number: X01202-013 and revision(?): A-B01
Just random thoughts: When were those Xbox built? Maybe the second row is just a datecode with the last 2 digits being the year or something? You could also try comparing it to the Xcalibur markings. It would also be possible that these came preburned from the factory and were marked according to kernel version? (The picture on the right is only thumbnail without link btw)
Thanks for the heads up Fox! Fixed the link. Both of them are from about the same date and had the same Kernel on them. Will keep my eyes open on the next v1.6 im getting what revision the Xyclops chip has. I think youre right maybe it's just a new batch they made because they ran out of the chips.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were different images, those Tuscany DVT1 boxes a couple people have posted about might have have a different Xyclops chip.
Just checked my Prototype from 2003-12-07. Xyclops X01202-002 A-A02 0341C65503.A1 AA TAIWAN (with magic marker markings) I also noticed pencil writing on both memory chips (Samsung) and also the Nvidia chip MCPX X3, but cant decipher it. For reference: XCalibur X01203-003 A-B01 0314F62100-1 AA TAIWAN -------------- Memory: Samsung 316 K4D263238F-0C50 SC WTAE12AA Korea --------------- Nvidia: MCPX X3 FB9919.2A 0334D3 S Taiwan
I have 2 loose 1.6 boards and I have one of each of the chips also. 002 and 013. I diference is 1 of them is a japan board and the other is a USA board. I do not know which one is which though. I just remember a few weeks ago that I got the 1.6 in a japan xbox and I tossed it with the other 1.6 board. I have 2 more in xboxes and I will check them to see if I am right. I will report back after I check into it.
My USA 1.6 has this chip: X01202-002 A-A02 0434CN2111.00 AA TAIWAN Seems the 002 chip is rather common.
I just checked all my 1.6 boards! All 4 boards have the Xcalibur chip with the following imprint: Xcalibur X01203-003 A-B01 -line thats different- i got the following on the 4 chips: 0411FF4296.1, 0510FH6865.1, 0442FG9784.1 and 0424FG0837.1 AA Taiwan And the 3 almost identical Xyclops chips: Xyclops X01202-002 A-A02 -line thats different on all of them- i got the following combinations: 0429CN1285.00, 0442CN9434.00 and 0412CM7151.00 AA Taiwan The 4th Xyclops chip reads: Xyclops X01202-013 A-B01 0511CP7403.00 AA Taiwan
So the first 4 digits in the scond to last row is the datecode probably. Up to at least 0442 being the earlier revision. And at least from 0511 being the later revision of the chip. It's unlikely they ran 11 batches from 0442 to 0511. So the X01202-??? is probably really a revision of some sort. Could only be internal changes to reduce cost or possibly another ROM version. Did anyone try comparing the contents yet? I'd guess: [Codename!] [Product-ID!]-[Revision?] [Factory facilty?]-[Production line?] [Year?][Week?][**][****].[*(*)] # See below 1) [Factory code?] [Country!] ! = Pretty sure (But still not confirmed!) ? = Unknown * = Placeholder 1) probably more information about production time? The last part could be the batch of that day, so if they had to stop production due to a mistake they could have increased that number to mark faulty parts. So possibly they only had to restart the production for Xcalibur fewer than 9 times, but with Xyclops they once encountered problems and hence used 2 digits? It still could be something else though..
