    Yahoo Japan Auction Assistant.
Just follow that link... for those that can't figure it out, read below:

    ====FAQ===

    What can I search?
Currently you *SHOULD* be able to search any regular Sega Saturn, MegaDrive, PC-Engine (including CD, SCD, ACD, and SGX games), Super Famicom, PC-FX, Neo Geo or Neo Geo CD release.

When can I search other systems?
When I have a completely translated gamelist of that system. I translated the above, and believe me, it takes a while.

Will this help me GETTING the games (IE - the infamous "seller won't ship internationally" problem?)
Unfortunately, no. This just makes searching easier if you can't read Japanese. You're still on your own in the acquiring process.

XXXX game didnt' show up, and there's got to be at least ONE of them!
Well, there's a good chance that it's searching for something improperly. I've done my best to cut down any superfluous characters from the Japanese Title. IE, the game "Sonic Adventure 3: Dr. Eggman's Evil Plan to Bone Sonic" would only search for "Sonic Adventure 3".... most people won't list the whole title.

Where was this 2-3 years ago?!?!
    Sorry... only learned CGI recently

Some things to keep in mind:
-In some ways, this is better than a raw search at YJ. Why? At YJ, if your search returns few enough titles, it will give you the option to search descriptions. If it returns enough titles, it will NOT. Example:

-This shouldn't be used to bid on things that I want.
-If you have any specific feedback (IE -- this game doesn't work, blah blah), leave it in (preferably) my forum or a PM here

That's a very nice program you have there. I just found myself a factory sealed Sonic Jam. All I've got to do now is get my wife to get in contact with the buyer. Which is easier said than done :smt022

    Hehe... cool!

There's really not much to it, and in fact, I put more work into than is necessary. I put an entire EUC Code table in there, b/c that's how YJ passes Japanese characters to the URL. If you type them in the URL though, it automatically converts them for you. :smt011

The real work was actually putting the list in the database. If anyone has a fully translated list of PC-Engine, Famicom, and Super Famicom games, I'm definitely looking for them!

The site is down. You need to let your puter accept connections at port 80 or sumthin. Or put apache back up. I never liked apache, Since i could never figure out how to use it behind this router. :smt022

I added PC-Engine to the list of games you can search. Having trouble finding Sapphire? Magical Chase? Dracula X? No more.

Gamespy went down for like 2-3 days last time I posted this, so not many people tried it out. Feedback would be nice (IE -- is it useful? Does it work well?).

It takes more than a few hours to get the lists in the DB, and in all honesty -- doesn't really help me that much. Just figured it'd be a nice gesture. Just wanna know if I'm wasting my time or not. Should probably post this on a couple of other sites, since there are plenty of people here that don't need a Yahoo Japan IV, like myself.

Kewl -- thanks for the words.

I'm going to make it a bit more flexible. Like being able to search over all of YJ for a specific game/merchandise, and also search other keywords as opposed to just game names. IE - "demo", "not-for-sale", etc.

I do not know about anyone else, but I am very grateful that you are doing this. Searching on YJ is a real pain, but your Yahoo Japan Auction Assistan makes it easier. I am also glad that you have the Sega Saturn games cataloged :smt023

There should be an entire list of MD, Saturn, and PC-Engine titles there... although I'm sure a few were left out due to human error. Secret: If you leave the search field blank, it will return all the games... I'll eventually take this out as it reeks of bad design, but will put a game list elsewhere on the site.

As suggested by someone at Shmups, I'll probably put a "Search for this title at Yahoo Japan Auctions" on the game info pages... just one more thing to add to the list I suppose.

    .

    nice one mate!
I usually search on YJ using my relatives account but I see this could be a valuable tool for someone who doesn't speak Japanese...

I usually bookmark the search result for each console so I don't have to type or anything.

    cheers

Your site has proven very, very helpful. It's nice not having to use Babelfish or OCN :)

Fantastic. I will give you an amen --- Babelfish is garbage.... I assume they all are when doing Asian languages. I tried one from Korean->English one time. I wound up calling a Korean friend. :)

As part of my final updated from Japan, I've put a direct link on the front page, so that should get more people testing it out, and have added the entire Super Famicom library. So, in short, you can now search Yahoo Japan for the entire library of the following systems:

    -Saturn
-PC-Engine (CDs, SCDs, Hucards, and SGX Hucards)
    -MegaDrive
    -Super Famicom

    Hey bitches.

I added two systems to the list. PC-FX and Neo Geo (AES & CD). So, you can now search the full (but still small) library of either of these two systems.

    Enjoy!
