This is a link to a Dane posting his "finding" in a Danish forum (that happens to be my site ;)

The first post goes something like this:

"Here is a little link that describes the exiting (and somewhat different) retro-gaming-culture in Japan.

Press the relevant link on the left" (I always did dislike frames - hehe)

So what now? You've taken Denmark, now the world? ;)

Yes I am married but I can't help it :smt033 Those women are so cute in real life.

PS : On that last page I wrote - These two cute ladies are here just to entertain all you perverts out there (^v^) hahaha

Well maybe they're here because I think the one in red is rather cute. These two are giving out information flyers for a used PC hardware shop. I wouldn't mind something else from them though. えちいいいいいいいい。

えち (Echi) translates to English as sex for all those wondering :drinkers:

  8. ヤクモはへんたいです!! :axe: ;-)

I'm glad I snagged mine off of eBay for $20 last summer! :smt040 But am I the only one that thought it was a fairly cool game?? :smt009

Hmm, the gal in the red on your final page actually looks like a Japanese exchange student here at my college, lol...

I've decided after this and Yakumo's Hard Off video that I am now taking up a collection for the "Chris needs to go to Japan to score cool swag" fund. Please PM me to find out how you can donate money, Frequent Flyer miles, or anything else.

On a more serious note, Yakumo, is there anything that is fairly common in America or Europe that is completely sought after in Japan (like a mirror image of all the gear on the Hard Off shelves?)

yakumo -- to complete the site, you should probably take some snapshots of some of the arcades, no? No sure about out in the sticks, but in da big city, you can play Outrun2, and walk across the aisle and play Strikers 1999, Batsugun, Dig Dug, or Daimakaimura.

I took pics of an arcade in Shinjuku, half a floor dedicated to Guilty Gear! :D Nothing hotter than GG-playing furyoushoujo.

Yeah I've been wondering about that too... a friend of mine vaguely knows someone who claims to have brought loads of stuff to Japan, sold it there and used the cash to buy stuff that's rare in Europe... but he didnt know what stuff he brought to Japan (personally I cant really think of anything).

However, I came across a "gaming in Japan" website once, made by some Canadian I think, and he actually has an import gamestore near his house (he lives in Japan) :smt043

I know a great arcade in Kokura that has the latest FULL SIZED games down stairs then upstairs they have a full retro floor with all games 30 to 50 yen !!! They have stuff from the early 80's to Tekken 4 :smt043 Looks like the old legend that Tekken is crap seems to be true :smt040 I spent 3 hours there last Monday playing such classics as Ye-Ha Kung Fu, Ghost'n Goblins, Golden Axe, R-Type, Some whacky dodge ball game by Technos and many other classics such as Final Fight ! They do have newer games on the retro floor such as Sammy's crappy 3D scrolling fighter on Naomi hardware and shit loads of shumps including Border Down, Ikaruga and so on. If I have time I'll make a video of that place this weekend. That is if I can get away with making one. I'll take your idea too Gaijin Punch and take a load of digital photos too for an Arcade Retro section on my site.

About stuff from the US or Europe having value in Japan. To be honest I think it's only really Tokyo where stuff like imports are of any value. Everyone down here couldn't care less.

  16. SUPER DODGE BALL!!! :smt040 :smt040 :prayer:

I would love to see an Ikaruga, Borderdown, or RS machine in action, that would be great. See if there's anyone there doing shit like from those playthrough vids someone posted here a while ago! :prayer: :prayer:

I can't imagine Western gaming stuff having much value...they get practically everything that we get...and then some...

One area that might be a possibility are late releases on consoles that have been replaced by a new console in Japan...but are still around in the US or Europe because we are waiting for the new console to come out...

Hmm...Did :smt023 Conker's Bad Fur Day :smt023 come out in Japan...?

Edit: Thinking even more...I really doubt it was...they'd have to subtitle or rerecord speech...and it was a wicked late release...

This is an awesome game...but would it have any appeal or value in Japan?

  18. Throwing toilet paper rolls to shut up a giant operatic dookie is all the international appeal you need anywhere, EVER.
