So the the house is over run with Mega Drive systems that seem to come with every set of Mega Drive games I buy. So today I decided to paint one of the worst looking Mega Drives in the same Black & Silver style of my Dreamcast and Saturn mods. Tell me what you think. In total it only took a few hours to do and that includes letting the pain dry between coats. It was a nice hot day today so the paint dried quickly.

    crappy mobile phone pictures, sorry.

    I like it.
The stickers give it an overall good look.

Very nice! Definitely looks like it could've been an official Japanese 'special edition'. The silver really brings out the design of the console.

Looks really good, but why the 16-bit sticker on the front and how did that scratch on the left side happen?

I don't believe you did this yourself, it's probably an extremely rare special edition color :p

Hellyeah looks really neat! I daresay the scratch was there previously? Fantastic work anyway.

I just thought the 16bit sticker on the front added to what looked very bare. The big scratch was on the console from the beginning. Before painting, this Mega Drive was a really dirty beaten up console. It looks a million times better now. Unfortunately there's not much I can do about the scratch.

I bought 3 Sega Console sticker sets many years ago from Sega Direct thinking I would use them on paint mods. I've already done a Dreamcast and Saturn.

    Yep, sadly it was.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone. The hardest part was keeping the 16bit area paint free. The actual black ring come off the console with a bit of heat.

Thanks. I've had a lot of experience with spray paints so it's not so hard to get such a nice finish. The key is to use swift clean strokes about 15cm above the item you're painting. NEVER concentrate the paint on one area as this will cause blistering and running paint marks. If an area doesn't look done wait for it to dry and give it another coat. Also, paint outside with no wind for the best effect.

Yep, the set had a few 16BIT stickers in different sizes, the Mega Drive design as a sticker, vent stickers, Mega Drive logos and so on.
