    How is the quality on the saturn intro dvds? Are they some type of licensed release from source material, or are they shoddy tv caps of saturn intros?

    Those DVDs are official Sega licensed discs. As for the quality, well I guess they are as good as you're going to get. Actually, I caputure all my Saturn stuff via a TV capture card with very good results. Just look at Silhouette Mirage that I captured last night for my site - http://www.segagagadomain.com/movie-pages3/silhouette.htm

    AFAIK, If a game is released across all regions they don't put protection on it.

    For example, all the CAVE games on 360 are released only in Japan, so they won't work elsewhere.

    yes, there are quite a few region free 360 games. In fact all Asian games are region free. Note that's not Japan though.
