Ok I dunno if this has been talked about before but the demos out today and I'm in the middle of downloading it. The graphics on it are insanely good for the PSP. Easily some of the best I've seen for it. I recommend trying it out at the least even if it is in Japanese for now. I just hope Sega gets this one across the pond in the next year. Heres some screens!
The demo is out today?!?! **** ME.. I didn't bring my cable on me. I'm dying to play the demo to see if I will import it or not (I do have kenzan imported).
Yeah Subbie its out today! I was surprised as well I had no idea till I went on a website and saw it. Its about 200mb and I'll give my impressions after I give it a run
here the link for the demo : !!warning japanese demo !! http://www.4gamer.net/games/107/G010745/20100830010/
I really liked what I played so far. I really liked the fact the combat has gotten an overhaul plus the fact that they seemed to have squeezed pretty much all of the city with sub missions, mini games, hostesses etc. onto the PSP is pretty impressive in my opinion.
I'm mixed so far. I will post more after i've played though the whole thing. Like the new combat, hate the lack of hud/info. Really don't like the backgrounds or the filter effect in fights.
The lack of a hud in fights bothered me a bit as well, especially not being able to see how full the Heat bar was (other than the glowing aura round you). Hopefully we at least get an option to enable a hud in the final game.
I'm still pissed off I can't get the demo to work. I have a cfw but thats for homebrew only. I'll wait a bit till a patch is sorted then I'll give it a shot.
Damn, finally a Yakuza game with a new main character (Kazuma was completely played out after the ridiculous ending in the first game, IMHO), and it has to be on a platform I don't own (nor would prefer to play a game like that on it if I had it).
Bumping the thread, played the full game last night for a bit. Graphics are kinda blurry, like they took the ps2 renders for the city and just ported to psp. Otherwise its a typical Yakuza game, pretty fun and a good combat system. I'd only recommend for hardcore fans who've already played the full versions since the handheld experience just doesn't compare, but I'm early into the game so I'm sure it'll have its own charm.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the full game. I've got it orders and hopefully it'll arrive soon. Bah, forgot how annoying it can be to import PSP games to Europe!
I've been playing this for a couple of days and cleared the first 2 chapters so far. I'm very impressed with it, Sega really have managed to shrink the RGG formula perfectly onto the PSP. The low res cityscape does look a little disapointing but thats a minor quibble when the rest of the game looks fine. The fighting system might be my favourite of the series so far - the different fighting styles you can learn add more depth to fights. Plus I'm really glad side missions are now marked on the map as "?" icons. Makes it much easier in the long run. The only part of the game I'll have trouble with is the hostess bits (half because I'm not a fan of them and also because I never choose the right choices!) My only minor gripes with the game is that I wish it had an energy bar on display in fights (without pausing) and that to view the full stats menu (mini games complete, food eaten etc.) you have to visit a safe house - I prefered the Yakuza 3 way which let you see the stats from the pause menu.
i test the demo version, i am not very glad of the fight mading: it's rough when you compar to the PS2 version and the fight take a very import place on this game so...
