I know it's pretty much all online, and has sparse Single player content........but dem graphix. I'm also fully aware of the DLC trap I may be falling face first into. But all that said I'm very tempted to get the Battlefront PS4 bundle should they still be available in February. But as a multiplayer game is it even any good? I am getting some other games with my PS4, Dragon Quest Heroes most notably and when I get my PS4 Mighty No 9 and Street Fighter V will be right around the corner like with in days of my getting my PS4. So all that said, YAY Or Nay on Battlefront?
I'd say yay. I think its pretty fun playing split screen or with someone else online with the Survival missions. Is it like every other shooter? Yeah. But is it a nice departure from what we know on the PS4? Yes. Yes it is.
It's far from a generic shooter in my opinion, I love it! I'm a huge Halo fan, and yet I've only got 16 hours on Halo 5 (including that horrendous campaign) as opposed to over 28 on Battlefront so far.
I have it on the Xbox One and ove it. It does need a real off line mode mind you but for online play I love the ship battles so much.
I got a PS4 for Christmas and being a huge Star Wars fan it was a no brainer to get it. Have to say am really enjoying it probably one of the best online shooters I've played in a while.
Its really generic and simplistic. Not a lot of depth and the guns are boring. There are a lot of frustrating things about it. Such as the homing missiles and orbital strikes that keep hitting you that you cant do anything about. The walkers are fun but due to the collectable power up system you can go a whole round without getting the chance to use one which is really disappointing. If youre on the rebel side you dont get to use any vehicles at all (apart from the crappy speed bikes) which is really poor. There needs to be more vehicles and maybe a vehicle based game mode. Altogether there isnt really anything in the game for serious fps fans. Its alright if you just want something to pick up and play for an hour. If you can pick it up for 20 on sale somewhere then ok, but otherwise its a nay. There are plenty of better games to spend your money on.
Have you played the game? There are vehicles to drive when you're on the rebel side, they have snowspeeders, x-wings, and a-wings on Hoth. On Endor there aren't any vehicles apart from speeder bikes for the Imperials either, so your point is moot. There is a vehicle-based gamemode, it's called fighter squadron. It's a solid shooter experience, as opposed to a game like Halo 5.
Yes, i own the game on PS4. I was clearly talking about ground vehicles, as the air combat is rubbish and not even worth bothering with. If you want air or spacecraft combat there are a million games that do it better. There are walkers to use on the imperial side on Endor. Not moot.
THAT'S LITERALLY THE POINT OF THE FUCKING GAMETYPE. AN ENTIRELY GROUND VEHICLE-ONLY MODE WOULD BE FUCKING STUPID, DOES THAT EXIST IN BATTLEFIELD OR ANY OTHER SUCCESSFUL CURRENT-GEN SHOOTER? NO, IT DOES NOT, BECAUSE IT WOULD SUCK.
Why would it suck? Anyway i didnt say it should be ground vehicles only. It would just be nice to be able to actually use the vehicles in the game more. If you know all about the game already why are you asking for advice on whether you should buy it? You clearly own it and love it so much that youre willing to defend it so what's the point of the thread?
At what point did I ask for advice?! The entire point of this thread was to defend it or to not defend it! And I didn't even make the damn thing!
You and I both. I think they consider The Old Republic MMO to be a sort-of III. I certainly don't see it that way, but hey. I want an actual III. BioWare or Obsidian, I'll take either.
Hoooo.. Chief my man. *motions you over* maybe we should let the "shooter experts" in here do their thing. They don't have the force.
Hoooo.. Chief my man. *motions you over* DON'T USE ALL CAPS. The reception on this game is a bit polarizing. I find either people really like it and are willing to defend it in any way or people are really turned off by it and advise against it.
I thought Mass Effect was kind of a spinoff, without that sweet sweet license. And the eons of lore. Anyway, I prefer II to the new one, but the online is substantially better.
Visually impressive, love the dog fights however for the price it's a glorified demo IMHO very little depth and DLC plagued. If the game had a campaign I wouldn't complain at all. I'd say yay but get it as cheap as you can.
I rented it and I really don't have a huge desire to buy it. Maybe when it comes back on EA Access I'll snag it then.
