http://server3.uploadit.org/files/Gostevie-Zelda_yellow.JPG Saw this on another forum. Can anyone explain it?
Don't be silly, its yellow. Test carts were sometimes yellow. thanks www.nesplayer.com for hosting. I remember hearing about a yellow Zelda. I believe it was a test cart, possibly distributed with test gear to test centres. I'll go dig out some info. Alternative could be - they used yellow plastic, and the gold wore off, but unlikely I guess. *edit* OTHER WRITTEN MATERIAL SECTION Sorry, no pic! From http://www.nesworld.com/proto.htm
Extremely. They all are rare, but the Zelda one is the rarest, I believe. Look at DP.... They don't even list it, and most the others are 10/10 rarity.
yeah, it is really yellow, and it is really a test cart. pretty neat! Every test carts on NES are yellow, and this one doesn't make the exception!
Hehe, that can be true einbebop, but the test carts ARE rare, especially Zelda which they've forgotten about! I thought there was a mario one, too... might be mistaken, though.
While this most likely IS a test cart, just for the record, Nintendo's gold carts (Zelda and Zelda II, as well as Ocarina, Majora, and whatever damned Pokemon ones were on the N64) do actually have a yellowish-beige plastic underneath the layer of gold.
The test carts were yellow as you already know and when a nes came into repair they would test to see what was broken by using the test carts. The zelda might have just tested how everything worked in a final test. I do not think there was a mario one because I was on the nes scene for a while and nobody mentioned one ever.
