I tried posting this in the other thread to get some ideas but I wasn't able to get the clarification I'd like, so perhaps I thought it was best to try posting my own thread. Please forgive me for any redundancies in this thread versus the other, I just wanted to get my noobie mistakes cleared up before I hook this stuff up and potentially kill my Saturn! Something I don't want to do :c

Anyways, uhm, I've got a Model 1 Sega Saturn and I basically just want to hook it up to a DPDT switch so I can switch between U.S., and JP regions because I picked up a Saturn copy of Metal Slug, one of my favoritest games ever! My research seems to point out that Metal Slug doesn't like those Action Replays, so I need to mod the Saturn with a region switch so I can boot up the JP region game and use the intended 1MB cartridge without any glitches. So what better way to learn about modding from this [seemingly easy] mod! Alas! I'm no circuit wiz, so i'm hoping you knowledgeable people here can help me out :D

Here is the untouched board of my Model 1 U.S. Sega Saturn:

As you can notice from the picture above, the Jumpers 7, and 10 are 'closed' by those two things, setting my Saturn to the U.S. region. My understanding is that I remove those before I try to connect wires to a DPDT switch so it can go between opening and closing JP7, JP10 for U.S., and JP6, JP11 for JP regions.

Due to my lack of understanding in wiring and why the wires connect where, I had to use this informational YouTube video series to get an understanding of what wires need to be connected to where on the DPDT switch.

I took screenshot of that video series and tried to make sense of what wires were connected to where, and then looked at my board and tried to apply it to my own board. Here are the two screenshots and my interpretation of what is what:

and here is my own wiring diagram of what I believe is how the wires need to be connected:

I want to believe that I got it right, but I just can't because there's conflicting information here, specifically in this image that is in regard to the board I have posted here:

In the image, the points i've circled seem to indicate that these jumpers are configured like this, but i'm still confused:

And if this is actually true, then this part of my drawing is wrong:

But logically, it doesn't sound right that they'd all of a sudden flip the configuration of the jumpers location of +5v and GND so I feel all sorts of wrong about this too...

But going back to my original diagram:

Is this even necessary/beneficial? or just dumb? I thought it was neat it lined up like this but i'm sure it's wrong too!

And yeah that's pretty much it, i'm just trying to learn here and I just feel lost. Again, sorry for making another thread on this matter but I just want some much needed closure on these questions.

    Thanks!

Metal Slug does work with the Action Replay, but there are a few reports on the internet saying that it works better with the official 1MB SNK RAM cartridge which makes me want to do this mod, to get more functionality out of my Saturn, and to learn more about electronics -- i'm just scared that my ignorance is going to kill the poor Saturn before I even get to enjoy it.
