I didn't want to jump on anyone else ebay strife thread & didn't want to clutter the for sale thread, so at risk of adding to the off topic clutter, here's my latest bit of fun... I recently won an auction for a couple of items from the same fairly new seller on ebay. One item was a fairly cheap thing (small step-up transformer), whereas the other was a more expensive item (gaming console) - I got nice prices on both items, but lucked out with the console which ended up at a bargain price. Well, as ever, the downside in such situations is that the seller decides they don't like how things panned out & immediately back out, which is exactly what happened. The seller messaged me, saying that they'd sell me the transformer, but not the console (which they'd already relisted). Sadly, it's not the first time that's happened to me, but it is starting to get pretty damn annoying! I reported it to ebay as a non performing seller situation, partly to make sure that the seller didn't try anything funny & stiff me for non-payment. The relisted auction was closed shortly thereafter, so I'm guessing they got poked by the powers-that-be. However, I'd still like to make a sale here - the auction originally had a BIN, which to be honest, I'd have used, had somebody not bid before I could. The bidding stopped quite a way short of my max bid & the pragmatist in me was thinking of adding a sweetener to bring things closer to the BIN. On the other hand, I fear that'd put me foul of ebay's external transaction rules (even if the auction transaction went ahead, the sweetener part might be viewed as external dealing). Plus, I might just be commiting myself to dealing further with a seller, who is possibly unreliable (as opposed to just being a noob). So what say you, in such a situation? Try to make a deal? Or run like hell?
ebay haiku: sometimes it works out and other times its a pain ebay is like that seriously, take it with a smile and go on. i had a couple of those situations and it really is more trouble than its worth.
God damn morons! If you don't want to risk selling an item for cheap put in a minimum value. Otherwise suck it up like a man and sell what the auction ends at. <Shakes fist>
I would buy it somewhere else. A leopard doesn't change his spots and this guy wasn't honest the first time, and you shouldn't expect anything better the second time around.
