SO Street Fighter III 3rd Strike online is live and considering some of us want to slaughter Capcom for their milking of one franchise and ignoring others you must be wondering if it's worth the download.

Well a few things if you are allergic to dubstep don't bother almost all the unlockable remixes are dubstep. I'm fine with it but they do seem out of palce with the bonus stage and between fight songs which were not remixed. There's a new Select theme which is there by default you can unlock and use the original menu and select themes. There is not even the slightest bit of evidence that the arcade soundtrack is even there. If you did not know the Arcade soundtrack only had 2 mixes perstage and Urien and the bonus stage songs were completely different from the tunes used in the dreamcast. Music doesn't blend into each other between stages like the Arcade/Anniversary edition versions either.

The Challenges are fun and give you a sense of accomplishment and give you points to unlock artwork and the remixed soundtrack.

It plays well...like 3rd strike but I've had some trouble getting super arts to pull off I don't know if it's because I'm still not accustomed to a square gate Japanese stick or if its the way the game reads the inputs.

On line they use the GGPO netcode I haven't played online yet so I can't say much if anything about it.

and lastly graphically it looks great HD,Old version wide screen 4:3 and
most interesting of all simulated CRT screen Scanlines included.

So if you have 1200 MS points or 1360 if you don't want to bother unlocking dipswitches and Gill though gameplay then I say go for it.

    Assuming you don't hate dubstep...

Ok I'm exaggerating a bit only Akuma's stage is a dubstep remix

Are there any links you can provide to exemplify the dubstep?

That guy is getting a bit upset isn't he. Anyway, I tried it today and yes, the music is awful. Just as well I own the Dreamcast version

I know who he is he did a ton of awesome remixes and I thought He did some good stuff.

The Guy the remixed 3rd strike is Sweedish go figure

and here's the Dubstep in question.

    http://youtu.be/cz1fPd-0nuQ

Oddly they didn't even remix Gill's theme that's fine but If you're remixing a game remix everything

    But why fuck up perfection?
    http://youtu.be/FtEsqspxONg

The soundtrack isn't even my problem though it's the controls They are too finicky I plug my new stick in my computer boot up 3rd strike in either MAME or FBA and I'm a MOFO I play on 360 I get the supers to work only half the time I input them.

And the FBA filters > the ones Capcom used

On a side note know I know a chick that looks exactly like gill (sans the two tone)

I liked the soundtrack for HD remix. but this...

i can understand why they'd remix songs from the 16 bit era, but third strike had like, actual audio tracks on a cd. idk....

Plays great online. With both players on green connections, parrying and linking into Super was no problem.

Yeah, I wish they would have keep the original music, but they nailed the most important part: Netcode.

Yeah it just takes forever to get a match and They don't do matchings based on Skill level which is what makes SSFIV's Online so great You can face people of your skill level so pros don't make you their bitch

    Edit:

    Here's the select theme

Who cares about the music? It was shit anyways.
If the game plays just like the original and has great online, then I'm sold!

I heard the online just has this masking affect so it seems like there's no lag... I haven't tried the game out for myself yet.

The controls are horrible too I can't for the life of me pull off supers and I KNOW it's not my stick becuase SF IV is made 1000x better with my stick and playing 3rd strike in MAME I'm a beast.

Half assed port for money is half assed

They should have gone the MK Route and ported the entire SF III saga with online and tighter controls. I'd have waited. (I prefer 2nd Impact to 3rd strike purely for the throwing mechanics)

I can't account for your inability to pull off supers (though I will say that SF4 has MUCH more relaxed input timing) but so far this is the best home port of 3rd Strike. Every other console port to date has been slightly out of whack (the DC port more than the rest) when it comes to input/buffering/timing. Lots of combos that worked on the arcade acted completely differently on the home ports and vice versa.

Half assed? Not from a fighting game fanatic perspective. This plays arcade perfectly. It's exactly what we wanted (barring the shit remixes)

BUZZ wrong best home port is the Dreamcast at least I can pull off supers in that version.

If the controls are broken then so is the game
