Microsoft is doing massive company wide layoffs http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10147922-56.html Bah, it's a bad time... bad time indeed :-(
Still in the UK there are new jobs being created as long as you want to be a shop assistant, shelf stacker or checkout person.
Um, there are?!?!? How many Woolworths closed?? Not really creating jobs - that's creating lots of unemployed people needing jobs! We have two Waterstone's here. The paper this week said they'll be closing one - the bigger one!
My company went out of business and I've been unemployed for about a month now! I hated my job and my company so I'm mostly okay with it. But it would be nice to be earning money so I could be spending money, especially since I'm getting married in June!
From http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7839361.stm Supermarket chain Tesco plans to create up to 10,000 new jobs with new store openings this year Sainsbury's to create 5,000 new jobs this year, in 50 new convenience stores and a small number of new supermarkets Supermarket chain Waitrose to create 4,000 new jobs as part of an expansion drive Frozen food chain Iceland to create 2,500 jobs after buying 51 former Woolworths stores Seems a bit dumb to close the bigger one, but I hate places where there are two or three of the same places in a short walk from each other. Hope starbucks close more of their stores...
