Civilization V: Brave New World - 10 hours This is my first Civ game, and even though I had played it before extensively, never before for this long. It was a combination of the new features in Brave New World and a really good game going, there was always something just a few turn away. Finally stopped playing when the sun started coming up again. Anyone else have marathong gaming sessions?
When I got GTA San Andreas in 2004, I started playing the game on a Saturday at around 10am and I still remember that I played (with a dinner break, but otherwise no pause) until the morning sun came up, which was around 7am. I guess I must have played around 19 hours Not the smartest move, though. School on Monday must have sucked, but I can't remember hahah.
Last week. Finished the GTA V story mode in one sitting. I couldn't afford to own a PS3 or the game so I bought both, played it in one go. Sold the game and the machine when I was done so I could pay the bills. One day I'll get it again so I can have a good explore and see some of the other missions. I've been suffering from headaches ever since :-/
LOL this reminds me of that Casa Bonita Episode of SouthPark where Cartman only has 1 minute to enjoy that place.
I hate to admit but my longest was about 13 hours of grinding from Level 80-85 in WoW: Cataclysm in order to get into Pandaria as soon as it became available, which I did and proceeded to get a realm first, which was cool. So glad I do not play this game anymore.
Red Alert 2. Why I remember back in the day coming out of my room at 6am and my mother saying, were you up all night? It was very unusual for me to not sleep of a night back in those days. I can't remember if I played through both Allied and Soviet missions, but I remember it being damn good.
Me and a mate did a full 24 hour le mans, the only problem was we did it while drinking and got proper pissed up and as the drunkenness wore off the tiredness kicked in majorly, managed to finish it though, boring as shit!
Back in the day my mate and I were both hardcore JRPG fans, being at that age we couldn't afford to buy games very often. We hired out Chrono Trigger from our local games store, there was one near us that used to get in imports, loved it but we didn't really have the time to get into it on a one day hire. So we decided to hire it out for an entire weekend, we ended up playing for @ 60 hours straight and then he went home and I crashed out for @ 20 hours, Good Times!
I played Halo 4 from when I got home on a Friday around 5 until noon. I also remember playing Modern Warfare 2 for 17 hours straight - and pulled similar excursions with Black Ops.
Not very long. I tend to get headaches if I play videogames for too long. I usually tend to play in small bursts anyway - I prefer to do it that way. There is the occasional exception, like when I just get a new game and I'm trying to finish it. Like when I was trying to beat Amnesia - I probably played for 3 or 4 hours straight. The same thing happened earlier this year when I was trying to beat Half Life 2. 3-4 hours is pretty short compared to what you guys are talking about, but for me it's a pretty long time. I'm sure I've played longer than that at some point in my life, but I can't remember when or how long it was.
3 years ago I played the original Dreamcast Crazy Taxi on arcade mode for 48 hours straight while high as fuck and drunk. I only stopped to eat, drink, restroom, and roll new joints. I set a personal best record of $31,000 in that session. I had started on a Friday night and ended it Sunday night since I had work Monday morning. Thank god I worked with a bunch of stoners so they could tell I was still fucked up high on the weed and didn't say anything. Also didn't help I had drank a full half gallon jug of Jack Daniels during that time and had a massive hangover headache. Don't drink, stone, and drive unless it's a video game kids...
Gran Turismo back around release time - my brother had just moved into his first house with the missus and I used to stay over on Friday nights. I'd normally take my N64 round and we'd play some Mario Kart 64 but he had bought GT that day and it was the first play test for us. Starting out on the first license we decided that the we would be cheating ourselves if we started racing without getting gold on ALL the license tests first... fast forwards 11 hours and his missus came down for breakfast and we still hadn't managed it, ha! Good times!!! On my own it's maybe a couple of hours here and there; looking at the screen for too long gives me headache.
Nothing recent as games never seem to have the lifespan any more, although i did play gta v for about 15 hours over a day as i was flying off on holiday the day after it came out. Old pc rpg's like Baldur's gate and Morrowind would have me on regular 10 hour sessions.
My Dad, my sister and I bought a Nintendo 64 at launch and ended up playing Super Mario 64 for 24 hours straight.
