Posted this at my forum.... nobody looky.
    Pleae help

I've got a new game info page, but it seems to crash IE for some reason. I know IE is shit , but most of JG's viewers use it, so, I'm stuck.

    http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information2.cgi?system=playstation&base=dodonpachi
    http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information2.cgi?system=playstation&base=donpachi
    http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information2.cgi?system=playstation&base=growlanser
    http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information2.cgi?system=megadrive&base=battlemania
    http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information2.cgi?system=saturn&base=radiantsilvergun
    http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information2.cgi?system=saturn&base=keioyuugekitai

You should notice a "view high res" link after the description (if it's actually available). For some reason, this page -- not the one w/ the actual high res images) crashes IE.

Please post your findings (w/ IE version number).
    Thanks

    EDIT:
I don't need error codes or that crap. Just symptoms, how long it stayed up, did it always crash, etc. etc.

    Page one, crashed IE totally

Page three, crashed same as page one

    Page four as page three

    Page five is the same

Page six the same as well

Looking at it, you have some dodgy scripting somewhere, not my thing, but I can ask the Mrs to look at your source. She is pretty good at cross compatibility stuff.

Well, this isn't anything rocket-science like. It's Perl, and there's only 5 lines of code different from production version (go surf around my site -- the game_information2.cgi script is a very slight variation of game_information.cgi). ALso considering IE only handles the HTML that Perl returns, this "scripting" by definition can't be at fault -- only the HTML it outputs. I haven't tried yet, but doing a "save source" in one browser, and opening it in another should cause the same crashes.

    Hmmm... weird.

I wish everyone thought like you. I love firefox. It makes me want to pull my pants down.

  9. No crashes for me. Using Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 (basically, the upgraded IE from XP Service Pack 2) with the Avant Browser addon.

Sweet! I'll use a slow-as-fuck Netscape core incompatable with a vast amount of current internet standards! I'll get right on that... :ramen

Sorry I didn't mention this earlier. I sorted the problem out, and emplemented the change already. It's in production, so you should see it as you browse around.

Thanks for those that tested it out for me.

uh.... firefox run faster than ie for me , you don't have any messenger text, don't have any pop-up , don't have any spyware downloaded without your permission, you have a built in downloader that let you choose the speed of your download,....oh, i've never had any problem with imcompatibility.

Educated computer users still use Internet Explorer, huh? The adware/spyware situation got so out of control with that browser that the U.S. Government warned people against using it, ffs: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16922 and the situation has not got a lot better since SP2 was released.

If you're concerned about compatibility, there's an extension that adds "open in internet explorer" to your right-click context menu. I've not had to use it yet, and I use the net a lot. There's also an extension called adblock that will filter out advertisements, once you get used to it you won't look back.
