Seems I and several other people have been having buffering and loading issues with you tube, to the point where I have to use Download helper to download any videos I want to watch (and those downloads take a LONG TIME) checking the Help forums on Google I'm not the only one, so is anyone else having problems with You Tube?
I just posted about this on Digitalpress. Try right clicking on a video and going to settings, and changing this setting. It helps. Probably changed by an update of flash.
Yeah I tried that and it's not helping. Maybe I will get a different version of flash and try that I'm running version 11.6.602.170 (Update that's the most recent one) when I do set it to unlimited, it'll reset back to 100kb after a certain amount of time. ONLY with You Tube, Gametrailers runs fun, Daily motion, AHEMPORNSITESAHEM You Tube is the only one I have problems with. 320p or whatever it is loads find but 480p and over is still sluggish. and using download helper it's taking me 3 minutes to download a 45 second 13mb video, so obviously You Tube is having bandwidth issues. It's not me I have 21mb internet (Just ran a test)
It depends on the time of day too but it's getting worse. So Annoying especially since I have a new Tales from the Arcade coming up, and I'm not sure if You Tube will let me watch my own show (as I usually do after to see how it came out)
Yeah, very often I'll be watching something on YouTube and it keeps having to buffer over and over again, the point that it's unwatchable. Then I run a speed test, and I'm getting really good speed. It seems to be fine at the moment, though.
It's also annoying that they changed the buffering behavior. In the past you could pause and let it buffer the full video before watching. Now it only buffers maybe 30 seconds ahead and it stops buffering when you pause.
Something must be wrong on their end today. On any other day, though, it will depend on which server any given video is located on. Even then, it appears that different quality/resolution versions of the same video could be put on different servers, as I have noticed in the past that a video that wouldn't load properly on 480 might load just fine, super fast, on 720. I hate the new buffer, too. It was nice when you could, even on a slow connection, let a high-res video load all the way through and then watch it later after it is done. I guess they decided people were wasting their bandwidth letting their videos load... :/
I'm on Fios too. I get lag on my Lap top AND 360. the Computer wried to the Router SEEMS ok but I haven't sat down to watch an HD Video yet.
Yeah, I've noticed that. I used to play then pause the video and come back to it for un-interrupted viewing but that's not possible any more. I think YouTube should remove all the pointless shit and moron videos to save bandwidth. It's a win win solution. They save money and bandwidth and we save our brain cells from not having to watch videos uploaded by gobshites.

What if you used the HTML5 beta player instead? I've got problems with the Flash player (slow buffering, disconnects and videos getting cut off prematurely), while the same videos load really GREAT on the HTML5 player.
I think Youtube just randomly throws the HTML5 player into the mix I haven't seen any options to turn it on or off.
According to the HTML5 beta player test page here: http://www.youtube.com/html5 The HTML5 player will only be automatically used if: 1. You are participating in the HTML5 test. 2. The video is encoded in a video format supported by your web browser. 3. The video does NOT have an ad. As for #3, I found that by right-clicking on such a video and selecting "Pop out", the video will load in a new Window.. and will be played with the HTML5 player. Well, that at least happened for me with Firefox 19.0. Personally, I feel that Flash should hurry up and die already. Since 2008, it's been getting heavier and heavier.. and more and more unstable.
