I can't be the only person who's ever, not navigated through a menu in a language I can't read. I'm not one to look at translation guides, USUALLY I can figure out what does what. However...Sin and Punishment.

For a good day after getting it, I kept restarting my game not know what did what.

So as always when I start these threads. When have you been really confused by a menu in another language? To the point you DID need a translation guide.

Also, who's erased their save date on account of not knowing what "Erase data" was in the language the game you were playing was in.

Seriously? Sin and Punishment? That menu was PRETTY self explanatory.

    You'd think so wouldn't you?

Yet for the first day of me having the game, I kept restarting the game when I wanted to continue.

Formatted my GC memory card one day when I installed my region switch and booted my first import. I was || that close to finishing Super Mario Sunshine 100%, too. :( Also lost my 100% Chibi Robo save, but I hadn't played that in ages so I just decided to play it again. :D

The Gamecube Naruto Menus are pretty confusing too speaking of Gamecube imports.

Knowing a little katakana goes a long way.

But still caution is needed. I saw a screen that said "メモリカード" and mistook it for one of those screens asking me to create a system save file (you know, how some games create a save before they do anything else on the initial boot-up). Wrong-O!
I recall this not being a problem if I had just used a swap disc instead of a region switch.

That's the result of common misinformation about GC regions. Memory card format is determined by system region, NOT game disc region.

GC can only read/write/create memory cards of its own region. If a JP game does successfully save under US mode, any data created is in fact US format and may only be used on US consoles.
The reverse scenario should apply too.

See, swap discs or modchips don't change the GC's region. They force games into a setting their developer may or may not have ever intended.
That region switch is imperative to get correct saving and/or text display for some Japanese titles.

Thus explaining why Shikigami No Shiro 2 is gibberish on my Gamecube.

A host of games have text related issues. F-Zero GX, Rockman EXE, Star Fox Assault...

Yes, Wii games can be affected too. Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou.

I wish more older games used MORE KANJI in the menus instead of KANA. It would make it easier for me to understand them....

I guess I'm going to have to learn katakana.

Does anybody have a translation guide for Fighters Megamix and Assault Suit Leynos 2?

Few things I've seen beat Romance of the Three Kingdoms for the kanji fan.

Wasn't this forum just asking for a translation?
    Seems to be off topic.

Anyway, what I do when I can't understand the region barrier is go to YouTube and watch someone who does.

I played through Crisis Core in Japanese with only basic language translations. That was fun.

I've dealt with Pokemon games in Japanese from time to time. About as far as I'm usually willing to wing it.

I should consider trying again to sell Super Robot Wars Original Generations and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. Recently got back the latter's US version anyway.
