If you had annoying things and/or inconveniences in video games, I guess you can post your experience(s) here. This is just for the aforementioned issues, not bugs. If you had bug encounters, post in the worst bugs thread. I guess I'll kick this thread off with a problem with the clothing system in Grand Theft Auto V's Online mode. So I was playing a GTA Online Solo Session on my Xbox 360 (soon upgrading to the PC version) and noticed a very annoying issue when selecting clothes. I used to have a full suit with a nice, ash-colored collared shirt, and a navy blue scarf. I went to check if crew clothing was available for purchase and so I bought a leather jacket I could put my logo on. I was then able to check the prices for the logos (the prices are ridiculous). Afterwards, I went to change back to my suit. My scarf was gone. No big deal, I will just walk over to the accessories counter and put it back on. NOPE! The stupid game wouldn't let me put my scarf back on because of my suit jacket. What the heck?! I WANT MY SCARF BACK WITH MY SUIT!!! After freaking out and calming down, I just decided to change my whole outfit around my cool new leather jacket. At least I get to wear my scarf with that. Have you guys ever noticed things like this that just makes you mad and wish Rockstar would change it? Moderators, feel free to make this a sticky if you deem it worthy.
For me, honestly? DLC. It's kinda annoying to get individual downloads that will charge you dollar after dollar. I usually have to wait for at least a year to get a version which includes everything. Whatever happened to expansion packs?
My biggest annoyance is that you have to install disc games to your HDD on the current gen consoles. What's the point ? If there weren't any loading times, it would be ok with me, but loading times still exist. The Wii U doesn't need this and does it suffer from any problems? I don't think so. They should make it like a 10%-20% mandatory install, so the game would indeed boot up and load faster.
I agree with this. Although to be fair, expansion packs were never all that common for console games. One of my other main ones is the dumbing down of first person shooters.
Pre-order bonuses/ retailer exclusive things/ Gamestop making everyone hawk pre-orders any time you buy anything. I think those are self explanatory.
Day One DLC - It's just pathetic. Exclusive Retailer / Store DLC - Even worse. Cosmetic DLC - Like skins, guns and so on. Most of them are not needed and overpriced. Day One Patches - If your game needs to be patched day one, the QA wasn't worth it. Rushed Releases - Meaning you'll get a lot of the above. Checkpoint saves - I have nothing against limited saving, but having a mandatory autosaving feature that requires you to pass a particular part of the game is silly. Modern Graphical "Effects" - Stuff like chromatic aberration and the overuse of lens flare and bloom. Screen Tearing - I'll rather play a game at 20fps or less, provided it's vsynced.
Most of the above, but sudden jarring changes in mechanics can be mine depending on the game. You're enjoying it, having fun and feeling in your grove and suddenly...you're stuck in a long event where the gameplay is different and everything you learned along the way is useless. See: Shadows of the Damned's Big Boner sections.
When games "change" your saved game. Like in Oblivion, you can't "try something as many times you wish", because if you load the same save some times the damn thing will change the difficulty, changing the enemy just in front of you. Most stupid thing ever to do in a game. Don't touch the damn saved games.
I was playing Portal 2 on PC once and the game moved my save files to a different folder so I was unable to access them. I moved them back and I'm able to use them again. That happened while I was on the last level. I was not happy.
Game developers should learn to make max $9 million games, if their titles end up in the bargain bin within three years.
That's not the same thing. That seems like a glitch or something that you (or someone using your computer) mistakenly did. I was talking about the stupid idea of "helping the player" with some innovation for the lazy generation that the dvd space made possible. That's ok until messing with save files.
My apologies for the confusion. I didn't mean it like that. I meant it as it was on the same subject as save games. I'll remove the quote in an edit. A couple Valve games are actually known to do this on their Steam versions. It wasn't myself and it definitely wasn't anyone else (it happened on my laptop and I'm the only one using it). On rare occurrences, those games move save files to a different folder for some reason. I guess you could call it a bug with those games. This has been reported by a lot of people, not just me.
