 I agree PS controller is not always suited for every purpose, just trying the Killzone 2 demo now and the game is fantastic but it would be better for me to play it with a 360 controller. Same thumb problem!!!
I don't think many would debate whether the dualshock is better than the N64 pad. It's got two analogue sticks, the d-pad is better, and it doesn't fall apart anything like as quickly. Honestly I like the N64's pad but it's got major shortcomings.
the n64 pad wears out, all nintendo sticks, even the GC's wear out quicker, but while they're new they re the best really. Technically the n64 has the most accurate thumbstick of any console, current or past, since it doesn't rely on potentiometers.
That's simply not true. The deadzone on the N64 sticks develops really quickly, far more quickly than any other pad I can think of. I still have my original wired Gamecube pad, it's battered to shit but it doesn't have anything like the deadzone that some of my N64 pads do.
all my GC pads have the same shitty dead-zone as my N64 pads, maybe it's the way I play I don't know, yet one of my few complaints of nintendo hardware, despite being a fanboy. btw, you quoted me wrongly. They wear out quicker than other manufacturers, the N64's is of course the worst because it becomes so stiff somehow. That said, the right analogue stick on my Dual Shock 3 makes funny noises and resists more than usual, even screeching when I move it. what gives? reckon I should pop it open?
I bought a couple off ebay a few years back, but every time I've seen them since they've been the price of a pad. Got any decent sources? That's really odd. I've got two wavebirds and two wired pads, and the only one that has any noticeable deadzone on it is the crap third-party one. They've all seen countless hours of use. It was my main console last gen and suffered constant post-pub abuse.
yeah, and I feel that my mostly used nunchuck will soon suffer the same fate I like my thumbsticks to be hard as a tit!
It's hard to pin down Sega's best console because they never had worldwide success with a single console like Sony had with the PS1/2 or Nintendo with the NES/Wii. The Genesis had better success in the West than Japan while the Saturn was the complete opposite. I do believe though that the beginning of Sega's eventual exit from hardware first began in the Genesis era.
Sega were out of money. That is why they shit canned the DC and restructured the organization. Then were bought up by Sammy.
I can agree on the N64 but the others... the shoulder buttons on the GC pads makes my fingers tired after to much pressing in games such as metroid prime - fail! and the X360.. why do people insist it's so awesome? Maybe the wired controller is ok, but for the wireless.. You really noticed that the controller was designed without the wireless in mind, the battery pack is clumsy, in the way of the fingers and makes the controller feel unbalanced. Not to mention the bad battery time. The batteries are always empty when I boot up the X360.
I actually prefer the wireless, not having that battery pack there feels weird to me when i use a wired contoller. Also, i get about 10 - 15 hours of battery life on a full charge, not too shabby IMO:icon_bigg.
Original source is Kikizo. Are they still around... didn't they post a multi-page article stating that Shenmue 3 was done?
I agree I own a PS3, but I do have a harder time playing shooters on it, than on my friends 360. I think it could be a thing where I'm just used to playing so much on my old xbox. As far as Sega making future consoles, it's probably a good idea they stopped when they did. I'm sure if they made another system it'd be great, but would have trouble gaining popularity with a 4th contender, Microsoft, quickly gaining people.
If sega was making hardware after DC... the would go bankrupt right about now with the way things are. They might have had to liquidate and sell EVERYTHING! And Sony/MS might have bought them up for mere peanuts.
Somehow I can't see that to be honest. Mario games are not what people make them out to be. Sure, Mario 64 was fantastic but after that I just don't know. They aren't terrible games but they just don't appeal to me at all. I tried to get in to Galaxy but that seemed far too much trouble to be worth it. Talking of Sonic, the last Wii game played with the classic controller is actually good. Even the night sections are good, just not Sonic. The new Wii Sonic game due out in March is also looking very nice although I'm not too sure about that sword. Sega really did F*ck up the Sonic Franchise but it does seem they are slowly correcting themselves. Yakumo
You've been trying to tell us that all sorts of sub-par Wii games are actually decent for months now, and I'm not sure I believe you. That Castlevania game, for one. Everyone I've spoken to who owns the latest Sonic game slates it, you're the only person I've heard defend it, except... God of Hardcore. Hmm. And then you go and bash Mario Galaxy! Madness, I tell you. Yeah, along with Spong they're a source never to be trusted at face value; rumour mills, the pair of them. Curiously enough I knew their respective founders on a forum years back. I don't really remember Doree (Kikizo), but Stefan (Spong) was a fucking nutter, the delusions of grandeur on that man were something else.
I ll be honest, the latest Sonic game on the Wii is shit compared to the other platforms, mainly because it looks like ass compared to what the Wii would push. Furthermore, although the daytime levels are fun, the nighttime levels were a deal breaker as I dragged my feet through the game to a total halt. Galaxy is my favourite mario of all time actually, right there on top with mario 64 - the mind-bending puzzles you have to work out and coordinate your moves are just what I like - it's like the skill it took in 2D mario but in 3D, sort of.
man, you're making me want to get a Wii again to play Galaxy. that's the only game i had any fun playing on that thing.
