Are there installation services available anywhere? (First post says not available from Zer0, correct?)
I got the chips as ordered, Zer0 treated me fine. 2 phantom universals and 2 BIOS chips for 2 saturns. I'm a soldering novice, but I studied electronics soldering all month, watched a dozen tutorials, bought a whole bunch of stuff to do the installation, and just now, *completely* screwed it up. The BIOS chips are bigger than the one on the board (the instructions mentioned as much). I broke a leg off one before even attempting to get it to the board by trying to push the legs in. The other: I tried soldering the corner legs first (as instructed), but when I pressed inward to get the leg to fit on the pad (as instructed), it tore the pad out from the soldered leg on the other side. Both BIOS chips are ruined, as well as the board for the attempt that I tried. I'm beyond frustrated with myself for spending well over $100 in tools, planning this out for months, and ending up LOSING a Saturn (and an NES, but that's a different story). I don't even dare try the other now. Total disaster.

Thats why i buy the modchip from zero but talk with a friend with soldering skills to install the modchip... electronic components are very sensitive, if you dont have skills dont do it

You should really tin the connectors first on both so it 'sticks' easier. If it is just a broken leg you can possibly crack the chip a bit to possibly solder a wire from point a to point b... Ask me how I know... friend had exact issue on another gaming system that needed the chip layered on top of another and he broke a few pins in the process. Get yourself a desoldering gun or desoldering braid. A decent way to clean the tip of the soldering iron and very fine wire and solder. You might be able to 'jump' a connection on the board if you did ruin a pad.. Again happens a lot, more then people want to admit.

Yup, don't dump the board! it's easy to put a jumper wire from were the damaged pad/trace is to where ever the pad/trace leads to.

Ok. I won't dump the board. Y'all are very encouraging, and it's much appreciated!
I'll see how many pads I wrecked. I have plenty of 30 gauge wire. And you're right, thinking back, I should have tinned all connections and reflowed a whole side of pins in. That would have held better when pushing the pins inward from the other side.
On the bright side, the other Saturn I have already has a pro action replay plus that works around the region code lock. I skipped trying the bios chip and just put in the phantom. Much easier install, and it actually worked. I feel tremendously better that *something* went right. And I'll take another wack at the first board next time I'm feeling jumpy... GET IT!?
Thanks again, and any more advice that comes in will also be welcome!

Second purchase from Zer0, and again an awesome guy all around. Only hiccup was communication took a bit, however he was busy and apologetic about it all. If he doesn't respond immediately, he will get back to you!
