Not really, there's no new Daytona USA game on the way (unfortunately). I'd say Bionic Commando, but the new game was set to be made even before Rearmed was released; and the new game basically killed the franchise again, anyway.
It's not. Apples & Oranges. In this thread, we've only talked about two over-achieving and under-earning titles in Sega's bank. The industry, if anything, now punishes such games even more than it did 10 years. Shenmue III... I'm sure it came out on a Dreamcast 2 in some alternate universe. Afterburner and Outrun were both stellar performers.
The industry thought the market wanted another generic COD ripoff based on a classic IP, and then Syndicate was a massive flop. LOL.
Since when is Syndicate(2012) a flop? A decent game= a flop? You don't like it = a flop? It was decently received by critics and a lot of people i've seen, have enjoyed it. But objectively, publishers want to appeal to the lowest common denominator, because they think gamers are stupid apparently. And only want to publish what they think is a "Sure win" It's been that way forever. Just look at the 8-bit/16-bit era's , over popluated and saturated with 2D platformers or Side scrollers. It changes from time to time.
It's a flop because nobody bought it. Even Asura's Wrath had better first week sales. It's funny because this was a blatant attempt to appeal to the LCD, but it was a total failure.
This is true and that's why they chase sales, Nobody needs 2-3 sequels in 4-6 months, yet sales show other wise look at CODMW. Look what happened to Guitar Hero/Rock Band, they milked it dry and moved on to the next cash cow. Look how many people buy Madden every year for nothing more then a glorified roster update. This is a business it's about product and sales, it is NOT a bunch of companies making the best game they can just for you.
We all know the ending, it's simple "A winner is you" How we get there is another thing, if this were an "announcement" the game would 3-4 years off or it'll be Shenmue 3 with the Unreal engine. I would HATE to play it like that. Realistically ... enjoy the Yakuza series it has people from AM2 on it and whilst it's not the same it's a similar feeling and not ending anytime soon.
You keep saying that, but how is Syndicate a CoD ripoff? Are you one of those who keep calling FPS games "Doom clones"? Besides being an FPS (CoD wasn't the first game to have a first-person perspective), I really don't see the similarities.
You walk through a corridor with no real room for exploration and kill soldiers. Well, that's every other modern FPS, but nowadays all of them copy CoD anyway. See Deus Ex: Human Revolution for an example of a much better and much more original game based on a similar theme. Sold a hell of a lot better too.
