09/14/05 The official sanctioned Sonic Extreme AFTER AUCTION thread.

We all make our mistakes. If I were in his place I probably would've done the same thing (not before looking at the forums to see what types of people were signed up, though).

 

The forums could be read by anybody who wasn't signed up, so that wouldn't have made things better... But either way, somebody would have noticed this and told the other forums eventually.

 

Ha, it's too late for that buddy. Next time you post a link to an ASSEMbler forum thread, make sure it's at least in a respecatble community. The last time someone posted an ASSEMbler forum link to a "fan forum", all hell broke loose.

 

This is going to be "Forum war III" by my count. (in my time on the boards)

 

I think you guys are making a pretty big deal out of nothing. There's no "forum war" going on, we just had one idiot who happened to post exactly one message in this forum - who wasn't a member of that Sonic forum at all mind you - that caused a very temporary shitstorm that's over now. Other than that we got a pretty damned hilarious thread in General by a "give me free things!" kiddy and a couple new members who are actually level-headed, cool, and could potentially be valuable members of this community. I think we made out well in the end!

 

SWS2B is a respectable community. Don't go throwing shit around when you don't even know the place that you are speaking about.

The problem was that the auction was in the General Sonic Games forum, which is world-readable. Perhaps it would be better to post such a thread in the Members Lounge (or even better, relay it to someone who can post it in the Tech Members Lounge, since Tech Members are the more respected and mature people of the forum). My guess is that this "ratman" is someone who had become disgruntled with the Sonic scene. I feel that fucking the guys here over was just "collateral damage". If it had been handled by people that are known trustworthy in the Sonic scene, and not revealed to the public at large until the auction was done, then I think this wouldn't have happened. I see no reason to let elitism start a "we're better than them" syndrome, when we have several respectable people who visit both the Sonic scene and here (such as myself and ICEknight)

 

Looking through the forums, it wasn't foreseeable that something like this would happen. They appear to be a trustworthy bunch - it's just one guy who felt like screwing around who fucked it over for some people.

Yeah, I'm just doing my part to help ensure that this ends on an amicable note between here and SWS2B, that's all.

 

No reason to get mad folks...Don't blame any Sonic website for the actions of some moron. Lord knows we get our fair share of idiots around here too.

 

Yep, I mean who wouldn't want page long sigs and big gay avatars. Am I right? And how about that airline food? Am I right guys?

He didn't get away with it at SWS2B, either, he's already been banned (and the only admin is Simon, with no mods).

AW: I don't understand your animosity towards SWS2B over solely a cursory examination. Spend some time there and actually read the contents of the posts. Also, if you register, there is an option to disable the viewing of a sig more than one time on a page (and of course the customary "disable sigs" setting).

 

I'm sure there are some good posters over there (I'm not saying there isn't because even NG has some good posters), but the overall presentation is a bit much for me. Also, I'm not a big Sonic fan, so I doubt I would be able to contribute much to it anyway.
