Nintendo Of America’s George Harrison has revealed there will be around 20 titles available on launch day for Revolution. Harrison, senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, said around one third of the initial line-up would be first party titles and the console would have a “more mass market priceâ€. According to his recent comments, it appears Nintendo has learned from previous mistakes and is looking to replenish games at a more frequent rate than it did with GameCube. Speaking to American magazine, Game Informer, Harrison said: “You really make your reputation in the first year. You’ve got to deliver software, not just at launch, but you’ve got to deliver software in the first six to nine months after launch. It has to be solid software. “In GameCube, we didn’t have that, we had kind of a drought for six months after it launched. By that time your reputation starts to solidify and it’s hard to reverse that after a while.†Expect more details at the E3 Expo in LA in May, including details of what will be included with the console at launch. http://instock.trafika.co.uk/cgi-bin/news.cgi?id=3599§ion=1 I do hope they do follow this up as they promise, as otherwise the DS will be all they have
I have to insist on wanting the new Super Smash Bros. to be able to expand upon its character and level (even downloadable missions?) base by adding new characters/courses every time a new major nintendo game hits the market. Nintendo could make players addicted to that game, long-time
Well, I was disappointed with my DS at launch & currently with my 360. But if for some reason Zelda becomes Rev only, then I might be persuaded!!!
I want it cause it will be different. Plus 20 games that aren't sports games now that will be something.
Until they give details and a better reason to believe they'll have 20 games (decent ones too) then I presonally will remain a bit skeptical.
Off-the-radar Polish developer Nibris has thrown its hat into the suddenly edgy Nintendo Revolution ring. Joining the likes of Ubisoft’s Kill Bill-esque pachinko-crazed yak fest Red Steel, the Nibris game (known as “Saddnessâ€) will be in black and white, set before WW2 and inspired by Sin City. No publisher, no release date and no genre have been announced. Gamespot reports that Nibris employee†Lukasz “CassSept†Oskard praised the vision of Nintendo, which his company will develop for exclusively. “Nibris decided to follow Nintendo’s path, which definately (sic) fights the stagnation which has occurred in video games and creates new trends,†he said. “With thise (sic) move, we want to create a unique environment, which is only available in Sadness.†Previously, the Polish studio announced another title for the Revolution called “Raid Over The River.†What happened to that title isn’t quite clear as the game was not announced by Nibris. This could be one of these “we’re developing for Nintendo, but Nintendo just doesn’t know it yet†kind of things. Kotaku http://www.gamespot.com/news/6147534.html
Well. It's just the delays that are worrying me. But I think it still will be a GC release, but they'll market it in a way that it'll seem like it's for the Rev (I'm guessing).
While 20 sounds nice. I dout it will happen. 2/3 of the 3rd party software will get delayed with 1/3 going missing and 1/3 showing up with in the next two months. It's just common stuff because publishers always will clame and promiss their title will be ready for launch just so they can get final hardware. I'm more in fear of nintendo's 1st party games being tech demo's or sub par sequels to previous games for $50 then anything else. They sadly pulled that fast one on us all for the ds. Yet i'll still get one. Hell i'll probably even try to snag a japanese unit because I love the japanese box & getting to play a month or two early.
Europe didn't see the GCN until Smarch/April of 2002. By that time, there was already a sizable number of titles released in the other territories that could come out in Europe.
I just wish I had a list of all the titles that they're going to launch with. As long as Madden is not in the list I'll be somewhat happier.
Yeah, Europe. As the person below your post already pointed out, Europe got the system later. Now how many titles were avalible at USA & JPN launch of the gamecube? Specialy since this anouncement for the revo came from NOA.
The last few Nintendo home consoles (not handhelds) have launched in the States with less than 5 games in stores along with the console. SNES = Super Mario World, Pilotwings, F-Zero N64 = Mario 64, Pilotwings 64 GC = Rogue Squadron, Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race Perhaps the Revolution will be the console to break this trend, but as I do with Sony's press announcements, I'm a bit skeptical at the 20 game claims....
It was. Ironically enough, it was the first GC game I ever played at a demo station prior to the system's launch.
