So now the Master System goes into its 22nd year of official production with the new Master System 3...

Strange that the previous model was called the 3 aswell though..

Althought Tec Toy have always had odd naming schemes.. hence the Tec Toy Master System II... :katamari:

Crazy. Guess I'll pick up a 'xxx in 1' sometime. (even though I might have trouble using it in PAL land)

Is that bit with the Sonic line art hinged in any way? I don't see where the cart is inserted, although I suspect that the last few SMS iterations have all had built-in games and no support for carts. I agree that it looks pretty slick.

Tectoy units built for Brazil generate Pal-M signals, right? It should be easy enough for a motivated gamer to pull raw RGB out of the CXA encoder chip inside, but I've never had Brazilian hardware to try that with.

It looks like a router, but it's cute. Ah and no cart slot.

Yeah, where do the cartridges go? Or do they have every freaking SMS game ever made ever built in? ;)

Looks like it comes with 131 games much like the older version of the Master System 3, the only thing that appears to have changed is the case.

Correct, sorry I should have been clearer on my last post. This appears to be mearly a re-design of the last one.

The cart slots on the last few Tec Toy systems have been dummy ones (The shutter over the slot is sealed aswell).

My 131 system works perfectly on my new-ish sony crt, but has a fuzzy black and white picture with no sound on every other TV Ive tried.

The built in games are a mixture of old classics and newly developed game (some okay and some terrible). See here for my reviews on the 120 system newly developed games (released in 2006) - http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11078

I'll post up somthing when mine arrives ;-)

Yes about £80 + post. There are no importers as such (that I know of) perhaps because of the compatability issues with PAL-M. But i know a guy on another forum who has bought me stuff and sent it over (seems to be one of the few people in Brazil who accept paypal aswell).

Not quite sure but the models from 2006 and 2007 both had newly developed games. This maybe just a re-disign of the exsisting 131 model (?)
I agree. I especially like the modern styling mixed with the old skool controler ports, it appeals to me somehow!

    I have a question:

why would Brazilians buy those new 240R$ SMS when they could buy old 90's SMS in MercadoLivre or fleamarkets for much less?

Maybe cause of the tons of built in games, but anyway it doesn't make much sense to me either.

I don't know how much of those and that Mega Drive Tectoy sell every year, but i know they export to a lot to others of south american countries.

The point for it to exist is to be a simple console for kids. They're not aiming to compete, just to be an option for a younger audience. Still i think it was stupid when they removed the cartride port.

As for price, Videogame stuff in Brazil has the same taxes as gambling machines (Yeah, it's stupid), plus i think TecToy is a bit greedy.

Very nice. If it was ntsc and s-video I'd buy one. (*gripe* *gripe*)

If the cartslots weren´t dummy ones I would be even more tempted getting one, but since the cartridge slot is a fake, then I am a bit disappointed. I mean after all, it would have been cool having an SMS with all those built in games, but at the same time you could mod it, so it could do more than the ussual.

The cartridge slot was removed last year. Till then they still used to make those with cart slot and internal games. Try looking for "older" versions

As for color, i think that a cheap PAL-M -> NTSC would work with no problems. Don't know about S-video though. Tectoy is using a new and smaller board, so i don't know how to mod it to get a s-video signal.

I haven't seen the "new model" yet. But it won't be cheap. Plus shipping would be expensive. Try looking at Mercado Livre, maybe someone can help.

The cart slot was removed on the 120 model in 2006. The 112 still had it which was released in 2005 (I do not have this one yet).

By the looks of this new console the bottom half is the same as the last model (or the old SMS II to the rest of the world). If you crack open an sms II you will see alot of empty space, really it could have been flat like this from the start.
