Just got back from the mall, and noticed they had it. It is identical to the Japanese Famicom version (the Faceplate that is), but its being sold here. Hadnt seen anybody mention it yet, so i thought it was interesting. Though how the people would recognize the Famicom colors is beyond me.

To me, this is the equivalent of sticking it to all those posers who think they know all about Nintendo. Then again, there's the cool factor in being the only one on the block to know why the heck Nintendo gave this GBA such a weird, weird color scheme.

    "It's the Famicom design."
    "What's a Famicom?"
    "..."

I'm exaggerating a bit much abou the above, but I swear that most people around my parts wouldn't know of the design's history.

does someone have a pic? I know the famicom looked way different from the NES, Is this what this micro looks like, the jap famicom?

I was watching icons today and they were doing the NES, one of the original designers said they came up with the US design in about an hour and the first design was a very thin top loader, LOL Great!!

I think that an NES theme or original Game Boy theme would look much nicer and be far more popular amongst Americans. Somebody had used Photoshop to make fake pictures of what such GB Micros would look like. The NES themed Micro looked like a NES controller, red buttons and all. The Game Boy themed Micro looked like a mini original Game Boy tilted on its side. I loved them both. Personally, I have no attachment to the Famicom.

well again it was just ment for hardcore fans thats it, as for the us nintendo themed one, id imagine its going to be its own faceplate. In otherwards youd buy it at the store or earn it through nintendos site by registering stuff.

Hmm, you ARE right. I shouldn't sound so elitist.

If anything, they should welcome the design for what it is after learning about it's history.

Ah! But the real question is, can you get the player II faceplate in the US? :)
