Yes, I can get these brand new, it seems to be the only new ones that I can get now from the manufacturer in China!

It kinda sucks cause I have truck loads of IDE HDD's lying around, but no SATA HDD's!

There was a discussion at psx-scene.com about these. At least one member got such an adapter... which didn't have the network port populated. You could see the empty solder pads through the hole after removing the yellow sticker :banghead:.

@PS2Guy: is your source reliable? I would be interested in this thing, but after seeing the picture with the missing network port, I am reluctant to buy one from an arbitrary store.

Never thought they would actually bother making these. That's actually very cool.

Looking forward to see board comparision of the official IDE model x the "generic" SATA model.

I use Free McBoot for HDLoader, or you can go to Linker4u.com and get HDAdvance wholesale!

It looks official but it can't be. I do have some sata->ide adapters that work fine with the PS2 network adapter. Wonder if they didn't mount one inside.

It's not an official Sony product, I think that Chinese manufacturers started making these because SATA drives are easier to come by these days!

As the other poster mentioned, it's definitely not official.

I'm curious about your SATA->IDE adapter experience. Which adapter did you use and are you able to put the drive into the PS2 without any effects like it's sticking out a bit more?

I'm not sure of the make/model as I purchased it through eBay from some Chinese seller. Some combos of IDE controller and hdd don't work but the PS2 seems fine.

With a normal 3.5" drive it doesn't fit properly without modification. With a 2.5" drive everything fits just fine.

Interesting, I would have thought that any 3.5" HDD would fit in the PS2 DEV9 port, whether it was IDE or SATA??

All my IDE's fit fine, have never tryed a SATA though!

It would fit, if the standard network adapter had a built in SATA as opposed to IDE. With the bridge it needs more space and thus 3.5" drives won't fit properly on their own.

I see what your saying now, the adaptor has been designed for a 2.5" drive rather than a 3.5"?

The one that you have is different to the one that ASSEMbler posted a picture of, and the ones that I can get my hands on!

    No.

Its a regular PS2 network adapter with an IDE connector. You then pop on an IDE->SATA bridge and pop on a SATA harddrive. A 3.5" drive simply won't fit with the bridge in the way a 2.5" drive will just fine.

That just kinda smells like hard work!

Off topic: I've noticed in another post that you mentioned that you had a stack of Network Adapters, got any for sale?
