Just let me know what I need to pick up before hand Either way, Im always willing to make a stop and check things out. Admittedly, Im not very good with tape items (only used them briefly in my networking class of all places), but Im a good learner hah
Hey, if you need help on the EPROMs, send 'em my way! I just love dumping EPROMs! (Yeah, it's a sickness...) :110:
I am at the farthest about two and a half hours away, so if any attempt at a group recovery session is made just let me know. I think if a few of us on the northeastern seaboard get together we can at least make a dent. -ServiceGames-
The read time on some of these tapes is hours. The first thing I would do is make a sample of the tape types and make sure they are useful. If a sample of ten all comes back as financial data, then a new plan will formulate. I will in the next week to two weeks coming take pictures and count up the type of tapes. Then I will get the correct drives. Scsi tape drives are dirt cheap these days, I have some here already. If they are good data, then I would set up a weekend where we could meet up with gear and check each tape for encryption. You'll need a laptop, probably a pcmcia scsi card and adapters. Once they are checked, then we would each get a bundle to check, and then upload the results to a central FTP. Needless to say this would be a closed effort until we get an idea of what is there. Then all the relevant data would be bundled into a large torrent and sent out for everyone to enjoy.
