360 does not read EA sports 13 discs. Reads everything else.

I own a game store and took in a 360 with an issue I've never seen before. It plays dvds and games but does not read 2013 EA sports discs. Madden 2012,NHL 12 etc work fine. Madden/NCAA etc all 2013 are a no go.

Outside of the usual tray or laser issue (which I don't think this is) is there anything which would cause a system not to read modern EA sports games?

Maybe something is wrong with the disks themselves. Scratches, smudges, bad batch of disks? Or maybe the system needs an update?

 

No the games work on other systems. Discs are in great shape and in one case was brand new sealed just to be sure. There is some outside the box thinking problem at work here.

 

not seen that issue on a 360 but had the issue on a wii where it didnt like dual layer games eg wouldnt boot smash brothers etc

maybe just needs update have you tried with it connected to the internet? or maybe the laser is just on the way out. i dunno really

 

Maybe it something to do FIFA13 Files on the disc that prevent from reading on older XBOX360 models ?

 

Is your XBOX360 console a slimline unit? Mine has been giving me problems with certain games like Call of Duty: Black OPs and FIFA13. I demanded an exchange from Microsoft, and the replacement XBOX360 S console seems to be a little... worse in fact with reading those game discs. -_-"

The freezing problem CoD had was no longer intermittent, but froze up all of the time in the spots that were likely to cause freezes (making laser seeking sounds, like it did on my original unit).
FIFA13 wasn't around before I swapped the console, so I don't know whether it would have been better or worse.

All other games worked fine. In fact, that CoD disc worked fine on everybody else's white XBOX360 units (including the shop's), so I had to resell it as a used game back to the shop, to reduce the amount of money lost. :/
(I don't know of anyone else who owns a slimline console)

So I gave up and got a PS3 for my own use, since I always wanted one anyway (the XBOX360 is the family console). Plus most of the games I want are on the PS3.

 

Maybe it's become self aware and had enough of EA's shit...maybe if you keep trying to force feed it EA games it will declare war against the human race...maybe just maybe you've got Skynet!!!

 

This is a newer style 360 4gb system.

I deleted everything and still have the same issue.
Then I tried with a hard drive and same thing.

It recognizes the disc is in the system but says it is unreadable.

 

This means that we have the same system, although I never bought the $199 HDD for mine. D:

I don't know what this means... is this a sign of a design fault? :S

 

Are you on the latest system update? I had trouble with some discs because I had an old dash and they had newer copy protection routines. Guess it's too late for a RMA on the 360 itself?

 

I don't know about the OP, but yes, I'm on the latest updates as my console is connected to the Internet and I update whenever it prompts me to. I'm not a user of the XBL though, since I don't want to pay.

I got the DRE a few times with the CoD disc actually, but it usually doesn't happen. The original unit I had was purchased in August 2012, I think.

 

It's probably the laser, XBOX units have always had this issue (like Silent Hill, Bloodrayne etc), and it seems the XBOX 360 now does. The 360 is doing you guys a favor, they are EA games

The usual problem is probably the laser being a bit dirty, as when the issue with Super Smash Bros on the Wii Nintendo just let people get a free "service" but cleaned the laser and sent it out again. It seemed to fix the problem.
Try cleaning the laser, and if it still doesn't work, take it up with EA and Microsoft.

 

But what if the replacement console just came from Microsoft? :/

Everybody I've spoken to about this problem were baffled. The first thing they would blame would be the disc. And then after the disc was shown to them as working on every single white 360 out there, they blamed the console I have. D:

And then after a replacement.. nothing changed. So what's up? The discs were spotless as well, since they were new.

The stupid thing about my life here is that nobody else owns a XBOX360 S unit. I know of only one guy who has one, but I was out of contact with him during that period of time.

Like the Microsoft technical rep suggested, I've tried clearing the caches of these consoles as well.. but nothing changed either.

 

The companies will do anything to blame the user -_- what I'd have to suggest is take the matter further, instead of speaking to a tech rep, talk to their leading manager or someone else.

If the replacement isn't working, they'd have to send you another unit. That's the only thing I can suggest, it could also be the manufacturing process of the disc. You might also have to talk to the publishers about that as well. (They might do a recall if enough people complaints.)

The game has issues saving properly as well, so it's already slightly less than playable.

 

Hah yeah, EA are fantastic. Hopefully it does. Since now many have lost money.

 

I have the exact same problem.........but with halo reach, which is really weird since it used to work just fine until a few months ago I felt like playing the campaign again and then........nothing, it didn't work.
