The dual Saturns are just temporary. Im planning on selling that saturn with the port. Its a PSYQ but Im not sure exactly what it does, I got it in a "beta" lot. The second DC is a Japan DC with a USA PSU inside it. I use this to play my Japanese GDR's Holy shit! I love wireless controllers, but I just found a new feature. Hit the xbox button on the wireless controller and it turns the 360 on h: h: h: h: h: BEST FEATURE EVER!!!! ray:
Never had the problems your talking about on my system but theres a new dash update coming soon and it should sort out some problems.
The key to taking corners properly is to stay on the racing line and learn to balance the front and rear brakes. Once you get the hang of it, the control is really quite good.
This is how you play this game: 1. Race along with everyone until the first sharp corner. 2. Collide with the guy in the front and create a gigantic pileup. The A.I. is so stupid that 90% of the rest of the guys will fall for it. 3. You will respawn first. You will pull ahead and if you don't fuck up the A.I. will never catch you. 4. If a guy does pass you hit his rear tire as he turns in front of you. Make sure you're going straight, you'll knock his ass right over. This is highly satisfying I might add. Tried and true stratagies developed after playing this game 13 hrs a day for six weeks straight. This works on-line too.
I can't disagree more. PG3 is the most graphically impressive game I have ever seen. There's oil/grease on the car window, for god's sake
Yeah, it was a good job, but didn't pay enough for the schedule (which during the end of a project would be 13 hours a day, seven days a week, with four days off a month becasue the law says so.) During this particular game we worked this overtime schedule during December yet didn't get any new builds becasue the developers are in England and got to take a month off over the holiday. To be fair we did get a week for Christmas (unpaid) but after the new year it was right back to overtime. So I don't ever want to hear you lucky European bastards complaining about vacation times, with your month off while I get a measly week.
Who the fuck gets a month off over christmas? I've never heard of that before. Anyway, that overtime is shitty. I assume they threaten to fire you if you try and go home at a reasonable hour? Is that even legal? Can they really force you to do that amount of overtime?
No i live in the uk and im pretty sure i dint get a month off over xmas... Hell i dint get a month off at university. And i know if i dint get a month off neither did my teachers who had 250 pieces of coursework to mark and exams to prepare for the 5th of january...
I'm at uni, and I don't get a month off. I do have a lot of free time during my year though. Anyway, the point is that game companies don't use students who are still in education to code their games. I can't think what kind of profession would get an entire month off over christmas, and it's especially weird for programmers in the game industry since game development is so time-sensitive.
The new gen games on Xbox 360 (such as the one in your video) do look quite nice and a solid frame rate is always good. I absolutely hate games that try pushing it further at the cost of frame rates so much that you end up with 007/PD64 frame rates. Great games, but horrifying frame rates. That can be fixed in emuated though and I hear by overclocking the N64 manually as well. I don't know what exactly people were expecting from the next generation of consoles. You should know by now that the PC is always far ahead of anything you'll get in a console. Nowdays you can get your a dual core AMD64 with dual graphics cards in SLI mode with some 4 Gigs of RAM and SATA hard disks. Easily blows away anything your console will do. I'm sure the HD output will help in the new consoles. The standard resolution can be a bit of a handicap I suppose. I don't have an HD display though, so I'd be better off with some kind of VGA output for my PC's LCD. Which makes me wonder, is VGA output from the 360 as good as the HD output to an HDTV?
We crashed Burnout, lol. While doing a crash event a horn kept blaring throughout the retrys, so I unloaded the map and re-loaded it. Now the controller kept vibrating no matter what. Then the game kept zooming out past the point of the map, with sparks going everywhere: Also on the second day of playing we got a disc read error lol. Totally random and it hasnt happened since. But we lost that race save :\. Stupid 360 resets itself to the main menu when it happens. What the hell? On a good note Burnout is still hilariously fun. Playing on Live is awful, It seriously takes me about 30 tries to actually get into a game. I either Cant connect to other players or get kicked by the room admin instantly. During 2 hours of trying to connect I got to play 3 matches. What the fuck? Anyway when I did get into the game I had two really fun ones and one awful one with a bunch of black guys who were just talking about how "high" they are and how cool pot is. They sucked bigtime of course, and one of them kept singing this stupid Rasta song about "powder". I quipped that he was snorting too much powder and that got a laugh out of the others. But it was pretty anoying hearing these idiots singing and talking about pot.
Oh yes, they paid us well. With overtime it came to $500 a week. They didn't fire you straight out if you never worked it, thing is you're a subcontractor. So if you never work overtime after a year they just don't renew your contract. However if you never ever work it they would let you go in a few months. For the most part the management was pretty cool at THQ, and I probably would have stayed if the opportunity to make more money hadn't shown up (plus they laid-off my friend for no reason. That factored heavily into the decision to leave.) Really it's not a bad company and I wouldn't be adverse to working there again in a different position, like with one of thier developers. But being a tester sucks, don't do it, it will kill videogames for you. Thankfully the other day I sat down and played Castlevania: Lament of Innocence and had a good time, so I think it's worn off. I can enjoy games again. Apparently Climax does. To be fair to them once Christmas was over we got a new build twice a week like normal during overtime (whereas in November and December we got one like every two weeks.) I think it was more so THQ could say they put a certain number of overtime hours into the project.
If you guys want to discuss college and such why dont you take it into another topic? I was letting it go but now its getting sorta anoying.
We're talking about Xbox 360 videogame development in a thread about Xbox 360 videogames. It's not that far off topic.
