3911 August 2001 Recovery for Preview Hardware (DVT3/Beta Consoles Only!)

As the title states, this is for beta DVT3 consoles only. If you run it on your retail kit, you risk damaging it. DVT3 hardware has some slight differences.

Burn it to a CD-r and off you go. It should help those of you out there with consoles that don't boot properly This is the last of the DVT3 recoveries, as this month also brought the first DVT4s with an August 2001 recovery for final hardware.

At this point, all generation of Xbox kits should be fixable with the software that has been released. Have fun

 

Question, is there anything one can do to safe-boot and view HD contents before running this, as I assume this would factory default it and format partitions. AND THANK YOU

 

Yep. First, figure out the IP address of your unit. Usually shows up through your router. Then, boot the recovery but DONT HIT ANY BUTTONS, or else all is lost! The recovery disk will allow you some limited access through Xbox Neighborhood if, and only if, you know the IP address. Navigate to the usual folders and see if anything is there.

It seems that in most cases when these units dont work, it is because someone used a DVT4 recovery on them so they are already wiped
