Well one with better graphics, than 2.

Looks good, but im not in to the "Overly medieval" look. The Anime pics were a nice touch, though! This one is definitely being bought by me, just to waste time and make crazy-ass enemies with 9999999999 hp without having to know how to script! :D
Either way, what does everyone else think?

Is this different from the PS2 game called RPG School or something like that? If so, which is better?

The trees in those images are just 2D sprites :(. I guess since it has higher poly 3d models and detailed textures than RPG Maker 2 they had to make sacrifices. Still, this looks to be better than RPGM2, ONLY if it has HDD support.

I like how the kiddy 2d ps1 3d look was thrown away.

Ah! I remember now. There are a lot of computer versions, and I am not sure what number the American releases were, but I think there are 6 or 7 installments.

if you can edit/create textures, characters and object, if you they support mouses and keyboards, if it's as complex as the ones on pc and, if there's hdd support, pc linkable and released in US. then i'm sure i'm gona buy it. I doubt very much it will, sadly.

as fro the computer versions, they're labeled with years. '95, 2000, 2003,...

Thats why the PC version never made it to the US, it was too complex (mostly my opinion), whereas, the PSX version was easier to implement what you wanted and see results of your work come together much quicker (partial opinion). Also, the community of RPG Maker PSX was much more innovative than the PC community. I mean they didn't just make RPGs on the platform but I'm friends with the person who made a skateboarding game. A very crude skateboarding game but it is very unique. There are also 2D platform side scrollers.

Again, I just hope this one improves on what part 2 tried to bring into the mainstream.

I don't like the look of the "main character" guy they used. He struck me as being from a wisdom tree game for some reason.

meh, i must disagree with you here, madhatter. You don't really know the rpg maker community on pc if you're saying things like this. there's plenty of cool ideas that where made on the pc version mostly because it was far more complete. there's some platformers, shooters, driving games, mazes, pong and tetris-like (among with other puzzle games), pac-man-like and even pseudo 3d games.

Yeh, I was involved with the RPG maker scene back in 99-2002 and during that time, I couldn't unique RPGs for the PC version. It wasn't until I got the PSX version that got me hooked for a while.

I used to be in a forum that was related to RPG making. It was called Timecircuits.

I (like I always do) usually only lurked those places, but I did make stuff with RPGMaker2000 back then. Nothing impressive, though.

It was quite cool. I really wish the XP version or something made it to English translation.

I was biug into RPG maker for ages....I have a partially complete game that has more plot-holes than playtime, lol. I was working on a Metal Gear style game using it too.....though I never really took the project outside of the early stages....I decided it would be easier and more fun to just code a game the way I want it :)

    Sorry for the OT-ness :)

Eh, looks meh-ish. Then again, it will all boil down to how easy it is to create a game, and the options that are available.

I had a short one going a few years ago (the illegal PC translation). It had maybe 15 minutes of "playtime", but I think it was fairly impressive considering I was 13/14 at the time.
