    I was joking, really!

Actually the dryer can either use 110 or 220. Most stoves are 110.

It sucks bad enough to get shocked by 110v, I couldn't image 220v.

In America, almost every kid has stuck his finger in a power outlet. Image how bad that would be at 220v. I've lost count of the number of times I've somehow been shocked.

Well in the Uk its actually pretty hard to get shocks straight from the plug - We have an ingenious design where the ground pin has to be in the socket before the other 2 pins (live and neutral) can be accessed. Therefore, to give yourself a shock, you must get a pen or similar object and push it into the ground pin, then poke something conducting into the live hole. Its a complcated procedure!

Alternatively, you could open a saturn and hold the two contacts which the power lead plugs into whilst pushing the lead in - Thats what i did.

I don't think it was anything to do with that. 230V is just easier to transmit over long distances, doesn't need as high a current (nothing with a plug over here goes over 13A - our cooker's only like 20-25A), and is generally better for high-power stuff like heaters/cookers/washing machines/whatever.

I've never got electrocuted by anything running off the mains here. However I did when I was living in Saudi (which used 127V and US-style plugs) - the bottom of a plug fell off, and I was wondering why my radio stopped working, so I touched the plug... my stupid 7 year-old self blew the mains fuse and everything went off!

hmm i dont know but i never stuck my fingers into the outlet but when thats true for america maybe we in europe use natural selection =)

i think us technology is in some areas or better was behind europe for example power when i watch the power failures that darken the half us states, in europe we have a pretty tight net that catches such failures most time

same goes to the tv standard but now the usa got on their feet and have beaten europe by lightyears with hdtv =(

and now back to topic hows the 3do station buiz going did you connect it already ?
