    Hi there,

I bought the RGB kit from Otaku Store which stated it could be installed on a model FZ-10. I sent that and the 3DO off to a modder. When he opened it up, he discovered I have a later revision of the FZ-10 motherboard-- this version has a consolidated chip known as "Anvil." I emailed Otaku and unfortunately they have never seen that before. Does anyone have any instructions on how to install the RGB kit?

That's interesting. Do you have any pics of the board you could post?

That is a lot different! I have 3 consoles (1 JPN and 2 USA) and I think all of mine are the old rev. Hopefully someone has the pinout info from that chip for you. But since Otaku doesn't know about it, you may be out of luck.

Since I have 2 extras, I could swap you one of my spare USA or JPN boards if you cant get if figured out. But if you have the USB adapter already installed on that one, it may not be possible.

That's a grand offer for you to make, thank you! I might just live with S-video. Otaku did offer for me to send my board to them and they'd try to figure it out. But I don't know about shipping it all the way to France. They also offered a full refund upon return, so that's good of them especially since the 45 day period expired on eBay.

No problem. Just pm me if you want to do it and I'll double check the board. I'm thinking the rgb mod is grabbing the signal between 2 ICs so if it's integrated into 1, not sure it's gonna even be possible. It looks like the ic is missing that you grab the sync signals from.

It's really kind of shocking this was news to Otaku and no disclaimer was put on their instructions (I don't blame them though; probably not a lot of Anvil 3DOs around because they were made starting in mid '95 I think)

Can you take a close up of the board in the area around that chip just behind the composite video socket? I have to admit it doesn't look good though - the components just behind the S-Video socket (presumably the Y/C buffers) appear to wire directly to the big chip, which suggests that the video encoder is now integrated.

The modder has my system now. I could ask, but yep, the video encoder is integrated into Anvil.
Edit: Anvil is apparently the DMA, video, and sound processor in one.
