Why does this topic have a weird symbol instead of the 3 in the forum, but its OK from within the thread?

Anyway, Macs are macs. Within reason, any Mac. Just look at the date the kit was made, and pick a Mac from that period.

I'm guessing something like a PowerPC?

EDIT: I'm a fucking idiot and I should be asleep...

I would have thought it was well before the G3 - I remember hearing that in the latest dev kit 3DO's were used to compile their own code, as they were much more powerful than the Mac's that the code was being written on ^_^

3DO was 1993 or so, just as PPC was coming in for macs. So think PowerMac 6100.

iam talking of the 3do m2 which should consist of two PowerPC 602 and 16mb ram (not sure if mbit or mbyte i think the last one) and was around 1994-1996 or so
and since i dont know anything about macs i am just harvesting information on that

btw. does anyone know what a project with the name 3DO Opera is ? (iam guessing it was maybe some paralell project to the 3do m2 technology but it could also be a lawnmover dont know =)

hey~ MAC topic is good for me :)
3DO dev first use on 840AV(68040cpu MAC)
3DO M2 DEV still useing 840AV(68040cpu MAC) but powerpc mac rls. it also can use on 7100,8100,9150
why no 6100? because 6100 did not have NuBus for plug in any card to there.
plug to G3 mac? no way . only powerpc601 mac and old 68040 mac with NuBus you can use 3DO dev card.

so any more game dev use mac? yes. alot sound library game dev love use mac. PS1,PS2,SS,DC,N64,GC.

ah thanks for clearing this up so i just have to wait for a certain packet then ill check out the old macs =)

so i assume the 9150 is the fastest one or maybe modernest and would be the choice to go with ?

ps. thx assembler for changing the title

    9150 is workgroup server

well, you want the best mac, i think 8100/110AV is best one.

i just found a 8100/100 av shouldnt be to different from the 110 or am i wrong ?
cause the 110 variant i cant even find via ebay.com

but if i get the 100 there shouldnt be a too big problem into switching the board with this 110 board and put in the av card (which how i read is just a addon card " PDS card that adds television inputs and outputs")

ah thx that makes things a little more clear, i think ill go for the 100av good thing they are cheap 20-30$ (or 20 euros) at least one thing that was cheap

btw. these development system producers must be very funny people just a quote:

btw. assembler do you have still some stuff from the 3do m2 since you did write something about games on your hdd in the marketplace forum thread about the first boxed 3do m2 (i sended you already a pm but got no answer =(

yes in the marketplace forum there is a thread for stuff you bought there i have put in some pictures just opened the whole boxes and broke all seals and checked the cd that came with the dev system

most stuff is documentation and examples and lot of .c files with code around 215mb at all

dont know if theres enough to compile a program since iam just checking anything out (oh cd is labeled 3do m2 portfolio and toolkit so i assume its the whole sdk)

there are some samples i found now that describe or show you how to play mpeg1 would be fun to see a movie running on the 3do m2 =)

oh and anyone remembers the cgi images theres also a movie of the science fiction race game but it doesnt look nearly as good as the pictures i have so maybe they where faked on a workstation

    in mine where:

3do m2 cd drive (the grey console you know from every site)
the m2 card (should be the stuff that emulates the hardware which should later be put into the console)
cd emu card - i think that was used before they had the drive or maybe its used to connect the cddrive to a mac
manuals like the 3do m2 hardware installation and a big book which i havend opened yet which i think describes the programming for the m2
and the cd with the toolkit

other then that i think thats all

i did find some infos on the 3do m2 that i havent mentioned on the most 3do m2 reviews and i think i found even some people that worked on the original project and when i have my website up i hope to get in contact with them

only problem i see now is iam not very much experienced with the whole programming but what the heck its fun sniffing around and maybe some people can give me some help
