So, I've had a 3ds for a while now, but recently started trying to get into it more. I like the hardware, and some of the "gimmicks" are actually pretty nifty (using the motion control to aim in Ocarina of Time is especially great).

One of my biggest issues with all handheld gaming in general, is that I find it fairly uncomfortable (compared to a standard controller, at least). I was reading about the "Circle Pad Pro," and how it apparently makes the 3ds a bit less cramped to hold. I'd like to hear the opinions of some of the more veteren gamers here; is it worth a purchase? The second analog isn't even my main concern, it's more about comfort.

By the way, I have the original 3ds, not the XL.

Buy a standard grip. For games with dual stick support, it is fine, but it does make the original buttons harder to reach, plus the shoulder buttons dont function on the CPP so you have to reach over them.

Right on, man. Thanks! I'll probably look into a grip, like you say. It'll hardly cost me an arm and a leg, so it should be worthwhile.

On another note, is the absence of a second analog that big of a deal for games that support it? I plan to get Resident Evil Mercenaries eventually (already played Revelations on 360), and I know that supports it, but you must be able to use classic Resident Evil control anyway, right?

Mercenaries doesnt support it I think. Revelations does though. And not really, they did a good job of having controls that work. When I got sick of lugging around my CPP, I played Revelations with no issue.

Mercenaries is a worthless turd of a game, it's basically useless if you've already played Mercenaries mode in RE4.

Reminder that Capcom tried to sell it for full price and also tried to discourage people from buying used copies of it. Is it any surprise they're in financial trouble?

Yeah, I've read up on Mercenaries, and I don't have massive expectations for it. As long as it's basically what the mode was in RE5, that's all I care about. Just want it for playing in short bursts, really.

Also, Borman, I guess I must have read wrong about that game supporting it. Doesn't matter since I probably won't be getting the circle pad, anyway.

It's alright, but I can see if it does get kinda cramped, especially using it for an hour straight.
