It's the old one, the first model. The orange led it's on, the console sees the charger plugged in, but the battery doesn't charge. Fuses are good. The board looks great. There's a connection between the charging ic and the battery vcc and also between the charging port and the charging ic. On, the battery, what's the middle pin for? If there isn't an eay fix, can i use this? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5PC...32802292731.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.vTuHz7
The battery charges just fine in another console. Also I've tested other batteries and the same thing happens. So at the moment I have 2 options: 1. keep the charger plugged all the time. 2. charge the battery in another console.
Middle pin is just a thermal couple Did you check the negative of the battery Got a 4v psu? Check for a short between VBat+ and - If you see any diodes around the battery circuit, check them too Check the vcc and ground going into the charging ic (for a short!) Because it’s a keyed battery, there may not be any reverse polarity protection!! Connect to a bench supply and see if anything gets hot Nintendo usually leave test points for the power rails in retail units.
No. Kiosk units don't work without a charger. This board i got in a previously opened console. The battery connector on the pcb was partially removed. I noticed something interesting. After i leave it to charge for a while, then i remove the charger and the orange led stays on, it shuts down only when i press POWER.
I've just tried that. If I cover that pin, the console won't power on. I've tested that also in another working console. I have also tested the charging module from aliexpress (outside the console). It works great on the pc usb port and on a cheap usb charger. But why it doesn't work with the official 3ds charger? The charger led blinks once and thats it. Plus the charger stops working for a little time.
