lol my eyes hurt from sunlight anyway, worse with those flourescent strip lights and energy saving bulbs now they're everywhere, never had a problem with old school bulbs =/ Maybe it is vanilla photophobia or maybe it is because I see the the lights cycling etc. I doubt 3DS would be much worse for me :p

I am admittedly tempted by it but I'm glad I can't afford it though. I don't need any more headaches or strain, fuck that :p

How bad is bad though? You reaching for the ibuprofen or whatever already?

I have heard a lot about the 3DS 3D, but I can't know either way until it is in my hands.

Quick question that might sound retarded though. Does eye color have anything to do with how sensitive your eyes are? I only ask because I feel my eyes are more sensitive then most people I have been around, and they are blue. Not that that means anything, just curious. ;-)

All I've heard so far is that older people seem to notice the 3D effect less than anyone.

But how is it paining you? Is it like a tunnel vision type thing after you put it down? Or is it just headache inducing? I almost want to go on a binge of playing that beast just to feel the sickness!:p

I'm quite worried about the potential eye strain from rapidly switching your focus between the 3D screen and the 2D screen.

I believe wholeheartedly as a thirty year old who has worn glasses for twenty-two years, that the current crop of 3d may turn out over the long term to be harmful to our eyes...

Hope that I am wrong though!

Played a demo unit in Toys R Us yesterday and can say that also being 30 odd and having wore glasses for 20 years, the 3D does work but I can feel a little eye stress. That maybe because of the bright lights in the store though.

I've heard people say the same thing about 3D movies and they've never bothered me. I think it's an individual thing.

3D movies are fine with me. I honestly think it was the lights in the store that gave me eye strain. Until I play the unit elsewhere though I can't say for sure.

even when it's in 2D (flat 3D) it's a strain on your eyes?

Personally I would take a flawless 1080p picture over 3d.
Something about 3d just seems less than.

I can't explain it but it looks like the quality takes a hit.

I hope I don't have issues with it. Glass 3D hasn't bothered me but I really haven't played for extended periods of time.

Yet some 3D rendering effects like extreme normal maps or paralax mapping gives me severe headaches. Like taking a hammer to your temples bad. =/

The awful games thus far can't be helping the eyes, either.

You mean like all those Doom 3 mods that add Paralax Mapping that looks horribly wrong?

paralax when done, needs to be done right so it doesn't assault your eyes.

    I don't know. Never tried.

The two worse offenders for me are Kameo & Oblivion.

Damn... this is potentially bad news for me. When I tried playing Morrowind on Xbox this past summer I eventually had to quit because I started getting motion sickness/headaches (first time in my life, I just turned 27).

Of course, once upon a time I was more than capable of playing the Virtual Boy for hours on end (early 20s). So... maybe there's hope...
