At least it is here in Japan. Anyone finding it hard to resist the new, lower price? I was an early adopter... famously buying my Blue 3DS exactly 2 minutes before the big earthquake on March 11 at a Yamada Electronics near Tachikawa, Japan. I sold it maybe 2 months later because 1) the games I got for it weren't fun for me to play, and 2) I needed cash and stores were paying good money for them as opposed to me selling one of my 5 Gamecubes or 6 PC Engines. I had played Raging Rabbids, Pilotwings, Blaze Blue, and Puzzle Bobble for the thing. I got the most mileage out of Blaze Blue. It's the only game I sort of miss. Since then, I've kept an eye on the system and I've become very critical of the machine and Nintendo. I'm not a hater... I'm a dissapointer. I love the potential of the device. I hate the application of the device. I am such a sucker for 3D, and even though it sometimes makes my eyes feel like they're bleeding, I plan to get one again in the future. I think N is making a mistake in that 3D is not the selling point of the device. They say that it's suppose to be the next GB, but they haven't sold it as that. Their message has been that it's a 3D GB, not THE NEXT GB that also happens to do 3D. I also had interest in their ambassador program, but I didn't like that they wouldn't disclose a full list of the free games, and they couldn't tell me when I could get them or if they were transferable to a new machine (I think the general consensus is that they aren't, but I haven't seen anything from N on the matter). So did anyone run out and buy one? Planning to?
if you do get one, let us know how sales are looking. I'm still fine with my launch unit. Small FYI, if you get one and go on the eshop store, don't buy vector racing. It's an okish game but the 3d is crap. =[
Not tempted at all. Maybe once a new Nintendo game hits the thing, not just the 10th incarnation of already warmed up N64 classics. A Kirby's Yarn for 3DS would be neat, with several layers of yarn making use of the 3D effect.
I am pretty happy with my 3DS. It already has some great games, and there're a ton more coming out. The ambassador program is pretty cool also, although I already own most of the games they've listed thus far. I dropped mine the other day, so now there's a small scratch on it. Still works fine, though.
im not looking at upgrading from my DS Lite, the XL is basically the same but bigger (i can see the appeal but not enough for me to warrant buying one) and the 3DS to be honest has zero appeal to me at the moment
No interested at all and glad i decided not to get one at launch. Will stick with my DS-Lite for the time being.
Not interested as of yet. I'm waiting what the Vita will deliver. Either way, I'm not getting tricked into buying a first gen Nintendo portable again (DS-DSi-DS XL anyone?).
Happy I got my black 3ds when I did, it was starting to get hard to find compared to the blue model. Now with the price reduction it will be totally gone.
I'm very tempted to get one at this lowered price, but still, 40 bucks for a game seems too much for me to keep up with.
Personally I like the bluish/greenish one better: it's kind of an unusual color for a system, but I think it looks really good. We had this discussion before: everything is black or white now. Stuff like this stands out.
It's the 5-games rule: for a console to be worth buying it has to have at least 5 truly awesome games That or be dirt-cheap, like the $50 Gamecube
I haven't read the whole thread but I saw in today's rag that 3DS is down to £115 at Tesco in the UK!
Just to follow up what I already said - Went to Tesco after work and 3DS has been reduced from £195 to £115. I had a voucher for £12 off when you spend £80 or more so I actually got the unit for £103! Quite glad I didn't splash £250 or the likes at launch now. Also, if anyone else is going to buy one at Tesco, I have another £12 off voucher that has to be used before Sunday 21st! PM me if you want it!
