So I have a small personal project I would like to complete sometime soon, I'd like to figure out how to do the 4-way tsop split on a version 1.0 Xbox. I understand the main concept of it but I'm struggling to understand how to setup/create the 1mb bin file that will allow it to have 3 different Bios as well as being able to boot retail. I found this tutorial http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/multibios-tsop.php but it doesn't describe how to go about obtaining the bios bin files correctly. I'm sure I can find the files on Eurasia but how does one get the bin file for the original xbox bios? Are they just meaning your backed up eeprom.bin file? Any help on this would be appreciated, maybe even a premade bios ?
I can't help you on the 4 way split, but I have dumped bios images. PM sent. I'm not sure if this is the same as the eeprom.bin
I figured, it was a stupid thought. The EEPROM is for the HDD/motherboard pairing security measure. XP What is the process that people use to turn the retail Xbox into a debug unit. Is it a software-based thing or would I be able to with the four way split run both the retail on one bank and a debug BIOS on the other along with the modded BIOS? Edit: found the answer, doesn't look possible. Its a 512k BIOS instead of a 256k not sure if its possible to do a 3way tsop.. Hmm
You'll be able to dualboot if the debug BIOS is 512k or less. 1.0 TSOP is 1M. However from there I have no clue.
Well Ive succeeded in a 2-way split. 4-way for what ever reason wasn't wanting to play nicely. Might try that again soon on a different xbox. This one keeps pissing me off, its the same one I was having issues with after TSOPing. I have to keep installing a modchip to load a different bios to be able to boot a dash or hexen to edit the x2config file to skip the flubber animation or else it never boots correct.. becoming a pain. Not sure if this is due to the Tsop Split or if its just another odd quirk about this xbox... Can't get DVD2Xbox to boot.. very odd.. Update: got dvd2xbox working ! Hmm.. theres always something isnt there... Not sure if its a side effect of this tsop split or if this xbox has just always been messed up somehow but I cant play any games on it. Some of the games will still play their intro video but as soon as it gets to the game menu or where the real game has to load up the xbox will freeze. What a pain! - OK so got that figured out, 100% an issue with the xbox. Swapped out the motherboard for a different v1.0 xbox, performed the tsop split on the new system and everything works without issue. Not sure what the deal is with that other board but its being stripped of useful bits and binned. Oh well.
