http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9340767/ Gillette wants to compete with schicks quatro razor blade, which has 4 blades, by adding one more. This doesnt mean it lasts longer, the blades get dull just as fast as their single disposable ones do. I just don't believe it that they would make something like that.
First blade-Cuts the hair Second blade-gets rid of dead skin Third blade-cuts through live skin Fourth blade-Cuts through muscle Fifth blade-Cuts through bone Now you can have that butt-chin turned into a business man's chin! :smt023
5 blades ! That's just crazy. I have been using the MACH 3 for years now which is good enought. That can get my face feeling like a babies bum so why would I nedd 5 blades? I have thought about getting one of those pulsing Mach 3 razors though. Yakumo
Lol, so true... ...My theory is that blade number is related to the amount of gears the average car has, nearly all razor adverts feature a fast car in the background, i.e 4 gears is old hat 5 gears is the norm... ...A few 6 speed cars are on the market, so 6 blades will be here soon
I've been using the Mach 3 for quite a while, and despite taking off the top layer of skin when I shave, it usualy does the trick well enough. I can't fathom the pain that five blades would cause... And the other issue is the price: Mach 3 cartridges are freaking expensive enough, and I shudder to think what these are going to cost!
5 Blades does sound mighty painful. I use a gillete mach 3 power, which is odd at first, but it is pretty decent. Blades are even more expensive than standard mach 3 ones though, so when I'm poor I'll just go hairy....
hmm just bought a new electro razor philishave 8000 something even got a lcd i wonder when it will need the first firmware update =)
why don't they just Put a 8 blades razor right now? i mean, we know we'll be there in 6 years, so why don't we jump to the conclusion of all this right now? Oh yeah, now i remember: they want to sell you the 3 blades one, the four blades after that, now the 5 blades, the 6 blades,.... The longer way is the best one to gain money.
I use an electric razor. I've never even used a real one, save for cutting myself by accident when I was 3 . I never saw the point. Is there extra "smoothness" or something?
I use mach3. My only gripe with it is that, I have to shave both up and down in order to have smooth cheeks. Also, I have to be careful that I don't get cut when shaving my chin. Its very hard for me to have that be completely smooth, especially when I'm half awake in the morning.
I have a shick quatro actually it has a good feel to it but I got 11 vouchers for free one in the mail before that I was using a Gillette 2blade and that worked fine. Unless your that guy with the hair all over his body you don't need 5 blades. Ridiculous....
Well, Gilette sensor excell has now three blades, so perhaps it is the reason why they are making mach5. Heck, Gilette has made the most famous razor (but perhaps not the blade). My father used their razor with this razor blade form http://justshaving.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/bs0021.jpg.w180h221.jpg http://www.westons.com/acatalog/gil53b_large.jpg http://www.anotherstateofmind.net/neck-razor.JPG and everybody has copied the shape. Wilkinson razors has given me some seriuos shaving scars, so I am using Gillette Mach3 . Even though I started with Gillette sensor.
i use mach 3 and its ok. Been thinking of getting a electric one for a while. Why the hell are the blades so expensive anyway?!
Don't get the electric one, had one in a small case when I was travelling in Japan. Kept going off (loud vibration noise) and getting odd looks from people on trains. Also runs the batteries down, so I had to take the batteries out whenever I moved it. The blades for that are like 8 quid a shot, which is crazy, absolute insanity. What I do now is get like 30 bic ones for under 4 quid and use them for about two or 3 days each = shaving perfection. Its all down to the foam you use anyway IMO.
I use the "Extreme III" by Schick. It's throw-away, and cheaper as a unit than those Mach 3 cartridges. I have a beard (but no moustache), though, so I just shave "around" it.
