Thanks for the compliments, I'm sure I could learn a lot of things from you too, everyone has a passion for something. You're very right, I do contradict myself, am biased at times and most people don't pick up when I'm joking or not :p I'm young, and human and I'm constantly learning and thus my views on things are pretty rapidly changing, hopefully for the better.

To clear things up, I don't actually hate clones as much as I say, I just think that Famicom pirate stuff has grown WAY out of hand. Kevin Hortons NES clone, I find extremely impressive and intriguing, while each Polystation and Gamestation or whatever are just the same cheap products. I just personally don't think that crappy bootleggers who truly don't care about their customers deserve the appreciation and praise people give them, nor do console clones really deserve praise because clones are not new, they aren't original, and they aren't the same experience. My disgust for Neo Fami is very real, I don't like eBay being flooded with pirate crap because it's hard to find anything official anymore. It's also sad to see stores replacing original Famicom for Famiclones!

yeah even qxl.dk is becoming a little flooded with famiclones (PS KID a polystation clone) a family basic clone too and one more (it is insane) since the seller is trying to fool people into thinking it is something else than it is.

Ah, down here they sell those clones in Walmart. Yeah, I'm not fond of those clones either. The romhacks in them are just... ugly.
    Eeew.

The clones back in the day were pure style, though. There was this round one with spaces to store controllers, and this really cool megadrive looking one, and there were pink ones as well. And the cartridges were great, too... many great colours and labels and stuff. I don't know, but playing "Darkwing Duck" just feels better if the cartridge is orange.

Also, everybody used to have these really cool multicarts that had many games we'd never have been able to get on their own cart. You know, like Donkey Kong and other pre-1985 Famicom games. I'd get one of those clones if it had only those without ugly romhacks.

And finally, many games were copies of the japanese version. I don't know, I always found that really cool. Unsurprisingly, I grew up to learn Japanese.

My avatar is just of "the Hacker guy" but yes I took the photo from a Hacker International disk, not the magazine. Hacker created and published their own games much like Tengen so I sure wouldn't call them pirates, (which I associate with people that actually DO the acts of piracy) Hacker is definately not underground since they print their Chiyoda-ku Tokyo address on every disk. What set them aside from the other unlicensed people is that their games work and play often like a (shitty) licensed game. I have nothing against unlicensed games. I often enjoy games by Tengen, sometimes Codemasters and in a blue moon Hacker. You may not know but some Hacker games were ripped off, cleaned up (or not) and released on NES by Panesian. Also they're rather expensive for a unlicensed game at upwards of $80 a piece (due to people that actually wank at 2bpp hentai) and are considered among many as just another part of the FDS (and Famicom) family. They actually have cases and instruction manuals, flyers etc. Their games only go up in quality as the price does, what I consider to be at the top are their PCE games that many people think are licensed and some of the late FDS games of better design than original games of the period. Honestly some of the games can be extremely elaborate such as the undumped "Bodycon Quest I" a 2 disk (256k long) Dragon Quest parody. To me Hacker is an interesting company to follow and collect because without a doubt I could learn a lot from their code (their utility diskettes) as well as collect some pretty rare and expensive games. Yes, they're definately educational lol
