Ah, Marshallh. I know his work. Used to chat with him a lot on the Benheck forums, way back in the day.
Doesn't matter if something is a commercial failure or not. It's still intellectual property, and can have ethical and legal consequences especially if it's to do with distributing unreleased software. He's just playing it safe. No need to hate on him for it. You've been here since May 2011, but appear to not post much. Why not take off your coat, have a look around, and stay a while?
I don't have much business here. I registered to PM a few people long ago, and came back to update those thinking that the Mario disk hasn't been dumped. You can see how maturely LuigiBlood acts when he has no counterargument by looking on the dump page. http://bsxproj.superfamicom.org/64dd/dump/ That was added minutes after my latest reply here.
There's more than just this man. You've done really bad stuff for a while. But I don't want to cause a drama here, if you don't mind.
Kudos for writing the dumper, but I'm not the one who previously hoarded the dumps. Who cares if a dump is bad? The emulation will weed out bad dumps. You should have immediately released everything. You got a good dump? That's great. Then share it instead of waiting a month.
Twili, how did you even get access to someone elses project dumps, anyways? From IRC? That's not the idea here. There's people (even on these forums) that create a small fundraiser/donations for dumping games, and they wait even after they have a good dump to release it. You saying this, is like telling a movie producer to release a movie the moment it's done, rather than gain hype for it and wait a few months. Luigiblood didn't create the dump, that was someone elses work. He created the dumper, but others used it to dump. It's not his content/dump to give away. This is like someone telling another a secret, and you expecting that person to tell you about it, even though it's not their secret. That's unethical, man. There's even a nice disclaimer on ajf, that supports dumping, and stopping horders, but makes a big note of respecting those that are helping someone dump. "People who have a righteous reason to not distribute their ROMs are fine.
Yes, before Super Mario 64 was dumped, and before the redump of Doshin 2 was made, someone else from #n64dev shared the dumps with me because they were given them. Then Jimmy130 shared the bsxproj link with me after Super Mario 64 was added to it, and LuigiBlood did after, not knowing I was already given the link. And I still disagree on the righteous reason stuff.
Will you be coding this software so that it can write 64dd disks? I ask as I would love to have my own personal copy of super mario 64dd.
Nobody said anything about this when I was on mIRC last. That's great though, thanks for the uploads. If anyone wants to have a peek at some of the images in the disk dumps, try opening them with LemAsm... http://www.zophar.net/utilities/n64dev/lemasm.html You'll have to choose "View all files" in the Open dialogue though, then ignore the error and set it to View > Picture: 5551. It's not the best viewer of course, but it lets you play around a bit. You have to adjust the width of the window precisely to see different images. OzOnE. @Twili - P.S. What's with the comment on that link btw?
An indirect response to: https://www.assemblergames.com/foru...Test-Homebrews&p=803756&viewfull=1#post803756
I am thinking about it, you're not the only one asking. I'll have to make a series of tests but if I can't do it with the SDK I won't do it.
Oh. I didn't see the previous posts when I posted the above, so I must have been on the wrong page. Erm. My opinion on releasing the dumps is that it should have really been up to the person dumping them to release them. It's always a bonus to the community if they do get shared of course, but I personally don't think people should be hounded for keeping them until they know they are 100% dumped. tbh, it depends if Luigiblood or anyone gave you the link without implicitly stating that it can or can't be shared publicly? Oh well, it's out there now. lol OzOnE.
64DDdump v0.54 is released right here: http://bsxproj.superfamicom.org/64dd/ It supports both gray and blue disks. You need their respective drive to dump though. However it's untested. I need some feedbacks, especially on the order of data, because I had been trying to make a blue disk dumper, but one disk is Type 2 and was dumped like a Type 0.
Yes. Not v0.160 but the repo has it and it works. However you need to use -nodrc else games aren't working right. EDIT: 64DDdump 0.55 has been released! Disk ID related bugs has been fixed! http://bsxproj.superfamicom.org/64dd/
Will future releases of 64DD dumper continue to support only the 64Drive? Also, thank you very much for your work!
In my case, I may not do more than the 64drive. However, I may release the source code in the future, so devs who wants to make that happen for other flashcarts, they may do so. It's not released yet because of many reasons... including laziness.
