And it still does sell ... I liked the WonderSwan Color reeditions of I and II and I do dig Final Fantasy VI, but ever since Sony took over, it's gayness all the way. One would think that with consoles getting more and more powerful, Square could finally make this game look something like Amano's original designs, but noooo ... It's better to call up Nomura and let him unleash his love for hermaphrodites. Where exactly can you find Fantasy in Final Fantasy nowadays? Where are the mages wearing pointy hats? We do however get a black dude with a fucking chicken on his head. What's up with that?
I think the DSi will have some great apps with the camera. Before the Gizmondo crashed and burned, there was some pretty cool tech using augmented reality, much like the PS3 and the eye toy. I think it would be safe to say, that a future pokemon title will use this function. Codes embedded on trading cards can be scanned or imaged on the dsi to create a 3d virtual battlefield not unlike the ps3 eye toy title recently. If done properly, you could use the camera as a motion sensor as well, the secondary camera could also see its uses outside of core gameplay, but instead of something like how the 360 camera takes a shot of your expression in burnout after a crash. An intriguing take would be an expansion of the drawn to life series. Instead this time, you take snapshots of your room, table, mess, whatever, which is then imported into the game as levels. Augmented reality has alot of possibilities with the DSi Ryan
In the UK, I always find it amusing that the DSi has marketing boards in shops proclaiming: * Take pictures and morph them! * Record sounds and mess about with them! * Download games on your DSi * Plays all your DS games library! I doubt many companies will produce games specifically for the DSi with that kind of marketing!
True, but looking back, I think that Final Fantasy of today is just too much. Dragon Quest managed to stay true to the spirit of the series, so why does Square feel they have to add teenage idols and all that crap? I guess they're doing their own thing, but they could have started new series of game altogether.
I've always thought that Square should have just made different series' for the Final Fantasy games as well, since now we confusing titles like Final Fantasy X-2 or a half-dozen Final Fantasy 7's, with no real connection between any of the other games in the series. I do like that they are interested in changing a bit over time, though. Otherwise I think that the games would have gotten stale over time.
