yeah, this sounds really intresting please keep us updated if you find anything more on it btw. did any of the FTP accounts work (if you dared to try them out)?
...You don't need "hack_devkit" to view the entire file structure, the file structure view is dependant on the .dxt Btw are you saying that Hack_Dev_Kit runs on it? i.e you can run retail stuff? Or if it doesn't run on it.... What runs on it? i.e 'old' dev games or 'new' dev games, or both?
I did the same thing on a dev kit,but I used the recovery disc to restore it. The reason its fragging is because the dashboard cant support the hack_devkit files. And I think the bios needs to be updated also. I wonder if there is a recovery disc for your proto xbox. You should be able to to access the HDD,even if its locked. Also ProgrammingAce, did you buy this xbox from xbox-scene buy/sell forum.
Ouch...don't hurt it more than it is . I'm afraid there isn't a good stable solution for windows to read FATX drives. If I were you, I'd be safe and download the ~12MB linux distro known as Xbox HDM. Nothing graphical (text-based file browser) but it works and should be enough to delete the files that need removing.
Why the heck is the Dreamcast logo on it?? BTW your site is really cool! It's easy to navigate and simple.
Well, Windows CE is included in the DC, plus there were rumors of Microsoft working very closely with Sega during the early days of the Xbox so seeing the DC logo on the Xbox isn't too surprising when you factor in how close the two companies were.
Did you ever get your proto xbox working.I know you said the hard drive is not locked so it should be a easy fix. Also did you ever get any beta games running on it. I was so close to buying this xbox but you beat me to it. Congrats:thumbsup:
