Just as a point of order. Windows CE is not included *IN* the DC. The DC can run a specific version *OF* WinCE, but it is on the game disc if it's there. -hl718
Yeah, another thing about CE was that it really didn't seem to be used....in fact the only game I remember seeing it used on was the Virtua Cop on Sega Smash Pack and a few others. BTW what does CE stand for............?
The teapots in the test application are Utah Teapots (the Utah Teapot is a teapot that was digitized by someone famous in 3D I think) Google to find out more
on the CE matter.. acording to wikipedia (and microsoft, acording to wikipedia again) CE wasn't really meant to stand for anything.
From what you describe I can confirm a couple of points for yer... 1: The FAT of your drive isn't the same as a 'standard' DVT4-6 Xbox. In other words it's more than likely the same as a Prototype DVT3 Xbox HDD; hence the usual locking/unlocking prog's won't recognise the drive properly 2: Prototype Xbox HDD's are 'always' locked!
They are truly locked, you can't swap them between consoles. (The locking was a fundamental part of the Development Programme) A modchip won't help 'cos you don't have a compatable .bin, you may not even have compatable H/W traces / components. Good luck.
Well the only way I know to get the hdd password is to get a eeprom reader. Like this one for example.http://www.xboxrepairguide.com/eeprom-reader-writer-p-103.html You will have to desolder the eeprom from the motherboard. If your good at soldering than it should be a easy job.But all in all you do have a proto xbox so Im not sure if will work or not.But hey its worth a shot.
there is? I have been looking for one for.. well, ages I did actually some research in the whole hdd locking thing thinking I would write my own software for that.. unfortantly I found out that after 3 failed unlock attempts the hdd switched to some state where it couldn't be accessed until you did a hardware-reboot of the disc, meaning you would have to reset the computer every 3rd attempt. so I dropped it b\c the only possible way I saw was doing it through a custom hardware device. and I have no experience in FPGA/CPLD, which probably would be the way to go. (this is all from my head.. as it was a while since I read about this. so it might not be exactly like this)
congrats, and I hope you learned something from all this: allways backup your stuff before you play with them
Well, I figured if there was someone to screw up a prototype Xbox, I'm glad it was also someone who could fix it. Have you found everything on there, or are there "unexplored" parts? I'd poke around every nook and cranny, but then again I have a bad habit of fucking up my Xbox by doing that.
Excellent to hear that this piece of hardware is back up and running, well done! ...Keep forgetting to add an answer to this so here goes, originally (if I remember correctly) the idea was that you wouldn't need a dvd dongle, but then at the 11th hour it was found that it would infringe patents and copyrights, thus a dongle was implemented to bypass the paperwork Btw, going off topic, Taemos whats happened to your avator? ...It looks like some guy jerking off or summat, very strange, please explain who it is and what they are doing, if its legal of course! *jk
I was wearing a girl's jacket, and I was trying to take it off when one of my friends (the jacket's owner) decided to take a picture. I figured since it already looked a little odd, I'd add a rainbox backdrop to it.
thanks. going to try it when I come home.. but I do doubt that it will work.. you have no idea how many of this type of programs I've used already both on the locked drive and my 250gb sata disk that just died for no apparent reason one day when I rebooted the computer.
