I've put this topic in General Gaming as it's the most frequented area.
This topic needs your vote, as a member of this site.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

As you may or may not know, we've been having serious issues in the xbox
360 area. We as a forum have always been committed to our core beliefs
of respecting each other and sharing knowledge. Time after time those
discussing xbox 360 have been unwilling to follow our rules and guidelines.
I feel that they do not share our core beliefs of courtesy and respect.
We have come to a point where the value of their technical knowledge has
reached a crossroads with their disrespectful behaviour.

I have tried time and again to halt offensive remarks and instill a sense
of stability and respect. I have unfortunately failed.

Please go over the poll and vote.

I agree with hl718 that the problem isn't the discussion itself, but the people who keep making personal attacks. I think there are people that need to be banned, and once they're gone, things will calm down again. Considering how quickly people used to get banned for similar actions, I've been quite surprised how long some of these instigators have stayed around. I think these people have shown that they do not have respect for other members or the rules, and regardless of what knowledge they might have, they need to go. They obviously aren't here to help, only to brag and insult. I don't think we either want or need people like that on the forum.

samael64 already re-iterated what I said in the other thread. As far as the poll, I would personally like to see some sort of "all discussion with rule enforcement option." As a fan of the Microsoft hardware I obviously don't want to see the forum go away, however restricting topicality to just "official" development will mean that the vast majority of what can be discussed (per forum rules) will be covered under NDA for most people who know about it. That is going to further limit discussion. Keeping information on retail hacks allows for more technical discussion, some of which is very interesting.

The problem is 360 exploit or hacking tends to draw very immature people.

Added the requested option to the poll.

It seems churlish to remove an entire section because certain members cannot accept that discussion of piracy & hacking is not tolerated or wanted.

I have a life, you know? I've spent hours dealing with this stuff. Hours.

I don't care about outside the forum disputes, wars, vendettas, etc.

I'm tired of forum posts degenerating into wars.

When you say, "All discussion with rule enforcement (and ban if needed)," what do you mean exactly? Do you mean that people will be allowed to discuss whatever they want, but they'll be banned if they get out of hand? And what sort of rules are you talking about?

I think the ban hammer should be enough. Just keep it short and sweet. Once people start dropping like flies, I think the point will get across just fine.

I'm not a big user of the 360 forum, but having constant flame wars there can be dangerous for the rest of the forums.

There are many other places to talk about exploits and hacking, but not so much for serious and friendly talking about 360 development. I see the third option as the best, since totally removing the 360 section would lead to 360-related troubles in other sections such as the General Development one.

Stick a cock in it and move on.

The adults are having a serious conversation. Perhaps you should play quietly in the corner until we hash this all out.

The place has worked fine for years and will just crumble to ruin because people act like children? I ll have none of it. Moderation is meant to uphold standards - a preferable method instead of removing granted rights established for years and serving many long time users!

PS: And I say this having no interest in x360 dev or dev hardware at all. It's a matter of principle.

Actually just from the snarkiness of this comment I would have banned this guy. A quick trip through his latest's posts shows he's got an attitude.

MWTomg, if you want to continue to hang around here, I suggest you start being a nice guy. There's a reason this board isn't filled with flamewars and trolls, becasue they don't last long here.

Also, being rude to the person who owns the site isn't a good idea either. Shows how cool Kevin is that you're still allowed to post here.

    I guess just being "Annoying" isn't enough to warrant a ban? Because GoH would have seen more hammers than anyone here! (^_^);

But seriously, I think outright banning of instigators should be good enough. I mean short of deleting forums, or privatizing them.

I voted for removal for fun.

Really step up the bans, if it doesn't improve, move the section to private (invite only), if it still is a problem then just remove it for 6 months till the problem people in question give up and move on to some other forum.
